I was born on Planet Los Angeles in the California System. My mother died after birth. My dad went missing in a recon mission, he served the LSF. I decided to join the Navy, that one day I might see him again, to make him proud. Life was harsh as I was a little suspicious about the acts of the Navy. Well I couldn't hold it longer and that life wasn't the life I wanted. I left the Navy. Decided to become a Freelance Bounty Hunter, suited my life more. More action and I could be there whenever the people needed me without beeing commanded by anyone. Though as you may know life as a Freelancer is still limited and you're after all, all on your own.

Why do you wish to join us?
Though as you may know life as a Freelancer is still limited and you're after all, all on your own. So I decided to move deeper into the Omicrons. During there I've been fighting the Alien threat alongside Core since long, but I figured that they have spread all over Sirius. Omicrons alone was not significant for me, I'd have to fight every threat off, everywhere so I saw your Battlegroup there and was fascinated. I want to be part of this!

My story begins on Planet Manhattan, like it does for many of Liberty's children. The O'Brien family originally hailed from Bretonia, but moved to Liberty a couple hundred years ago. I was raised in the maritime city of New Boston with my ten siblings, of whom I'm the youngest. My father was a public servant and didn't make much from his meager government salary. My mother made her money as an accountant for a prestigious shipping company, but having to support so many children detracted from what should have been a glamorous occupation. With so many siblings comes an exponential increase in the paradoxical conflict and camaraderie that brothers and sisters share with bashful affection. Whilst I could recount to you the entire O'Brien family tree, it only benefits you to know that Officers Michael (Mike) and Charles (Charlie) O'Brien of the LPI are two of my brothers who you encountered before. Our family is tightly knit, though none of them seem to know where I am now, and notifying them would just put them in danger. Our parents also passed away shortly after I had finished middle school, but it was at least cushioned by the fact that it wasn't as tragic as murder. The great age discrepancy between me and my siblings meant some were already in the workforce, and their incomes helped to support the ones who were still dependent.

Anyways, I went through the early pre-college years as easily as any other person. Was always good with my fists, and managed to bring some money on the side for my family by fighting in the boxing competitions that sprung up locally. Didn't want to live my life with brain damage, though, so I quit before entering college. I performed well enough in high school to earn a full scholarship to New Boston University. It was there I flipped between majors incredibly often until finally deciding upon History. Midway through, I attracted the attention of a man I knew by how he walked around our campus with his datapad and masked expression. Turns out he was an LSF recruiter who had been observing me for some time, along with some other students. He encouraged me to apply to the Liberty Security Force, and seeing it as an opportunity to rise above my station in life, I took him up on it. The interview process seemed fairly simple, and I was admitted at the age of 22, right out of college.

Training in the LSF was fairly straightforward, and I primarily dealt with record keeping and clerk-related duties. It wasn't until half a year ago that, after pestering the higher ups about my desire to serve out in the field, I was admitted into more tactical operations. I was taught how to operate a variety of starships in addition to some counter-terrorism training and general combat training regimens applied to Liberty Navy personnel. My full training was not yet complete, but my CO insisted I be attached to a mission to Kansas that actually had this organization as its primary target. We were sent there with the express purpose of luring you out, and I guess it worked.

That was where everything started to go wrong... I had only heard of the Nomads from various dossiers, reports, and gossip from other LSF personnel. Never actually saw one up close and personal. When I was sent into the Tuttle Creek Nebula in that godforsaken system, I wasn't expecting to find that lonely Switchblade pointing at some massive alien construct hidden within the depths of the cloud. There was this odd signal or sound coming from it... It felt like some type of intoxicating allure that, at the time, was irresistible. I was separated from the rest of the search party, and to my knowledge, the Battlegroup Auxesia entered the system shortly after I activated the gate and left Kansas. When i jumped through, my ship was taking heavy damage from all the rads, but the sensation from before felt only stronger. I continued further into the field, and at that point, my memory goes a little fuzzy. I last remember waking up in my ship and feeling nothing but utter horror at the situation. I panicked, started banging on the cockpit glass, and found that my ship had lost power while I was out. After some rebooting, everything was functional again.

In that moment, I noticed that your leader, Raven, was in my cargo bay. She had actually risked her life to aid an LSF operative tasked with hunting her down. She did her best to aid me, and when I turned around and saw her, I couldn't be more thankful to see another human being in such a terrifying place. She helped calm me down, and started to guide my ship to safety. Behind us I saw my first Nomad in person, and the way its thoughts wormed their way into my head was undoubtedly one of the most chilling experiences I have ever had to go through. Through some miracle or her guidance, we went through a jumphole that led to the Pennsylvania system. When I reestablished contact with the search party, they tasked me with tracking Raven through Liberty in an attempt to interdict her. Then the commanding officer of the Presque Isle ordered me to immediately report to the Alaska system for debriefing, and the associated consequences that would come with it.

I obeyed the orders loyally, until I jumped into the California system. It dawned on me that I would not survive Alaska, and if I did, my life would no longer be my own. It felt wrong to betray the person who saved me from one of the worst fates I can imagine. And it felt far more wrong to go on with life after witnessing what I did.

And so I ran.

With a flick of a switch, I turned off my transponders and comms within the search party and made a run for Cortez. Along the way, I made contact with Catherine Jackson, one of my closest friends in the Liberty Navy. If there was one person I could trust, it was her. With a tearful goodbye, she fed the group false information and allowed me to escape to Cortez and eventually Coronado. It was there that I explained the situation to you and your comrade, and where we began our exodus to Omega-49. It was there that you explained everything you could and opened my eyes up to what kind of enemy humanity truly faces. I've adopted a new identity, and have disposed of the Avenger I came here on. And so now I am on Planet Gran Canaria, resolute in my decision to join you.

Why do you wish to join us?
Do I really have a choice? I'm a rogue LSF pilot who went into a place that they would very much like to know about. I've got no contacts outside of Liberty to keep me safe, and if I go back, I'm putting both me and my family at massive risk. And then there's the ideological concerns and desire to stop running and start fighting. The Nomads are out there, and I'll be damned if I don't do something about it. Order and Core are too distant, and as you described, they've got their own flaws. There's a lot of people out there who'd want to get their hands on a defector from the LSF like me, and you so far seem to be one of the only groups that doesn't want to immediately jump to intense interrogation followed by thorough autopsy. I'm committed if you take me, and I'll serve to the best of my ability.

I was born on Planet Denver, and lived my early childhood with a family of pharmicists. Life was all good, I grew up with my older brother, who was basically my one and only role model, and he aspired for the Navy. Because of my brother I reached for the Liberty Navy at a young age, little did I know it would lead so far... My brother fell apart as he got older... he fell under the influence of Cardamine from the Outcasts, and it... wasn't for him, he fell to the floor in spasms when he first took it, and 10 year old me fonud him first, screaming. It didn't take long for my brother after that, he ended up in Sugarland with the LPI after a month, and died of an overdose and the effects 2 months after that.

After even all that happened, I still had a love for what my brother aspired to be: a Navy officer. I pushed for years in ROTC in high school, and college. The experience payed off, getting me into the primary fleet with full ensign priveleges, which I worked on for a while. I was your model officer, taking out criminals and threats daily, showing no mercy to the scum of Liberty. I really didn't know just how much one ship could change me, and how I could change all those around me in just a few minutes space... Which is when I ran into you guys.

I had seen Raven in New York warning of Hellfire, and I took a recruit with me for investigation, and we... quickly found the ship. We came into California and saw the Hellfire, and what happened next with him shocked me. He said he was ready to kill himself after what he had just witnessed. I was shocked, in awe, beyond surprised. But then I found out why: the pilot had tried to capture an LSC Class, but instead it went self destruct, and killed everyone inside. I won't remorse for a dead ship and its pilot or crew, but not out of such an innocent death for these people. I sympathized with the Legion, and I realized how they aren't truly all evil, and after reinforcements showing up from the LSF and the Primary Fleet, things got complicated.

I tried to protect the two ships, Stoneheart and William Foulke of your battlegroup... thats when Foulke spoke to me, and I realized who he was. Yes, keep this between us, but I'M the one who let him escape Liberty, I'm his reason for being alive right now. I finally had found him, back in Liberty Space of all places. I played along with the LSF, clenching my teeth the whole time, until the Hellfire jumped in and engaged just to protect me, and Foulke as well. I lost it, I wasn't going to let either of them get shot at, and I kept my promise that day, but at the cost of High Treason. So then I ran, as fast as I could to the Tau's with Foulke, there we headed to Bretonia and found a cheap ship dealer. So, I've set myself up, with this cozy bunk on Gran Canaria, and now I'm writing to you, applying, to join your fight.

Why do you wish to join us?
I've basically no choice right? I've deserted from the Primary Fleet, and in the presence of an LSF agent who already had me under suspicions. Theres no doubt my face is already all over the Liberty Bounty Boards, and theres no way I can go back alone right now. So I want to go with you guys, with William, its my best route for survival. And I've already seen what you guys are capable of, I'm confident of finding a good home with the battlegroup as well.

I haven't been doing anything really, since the last time we saw each other. Been stuck in the Fabricants laboratories, perfecting her. My creation needs a lot of work indeed, but with the Core falling apart ever so slowly, I don't think I could call Rho a "healthy work environment" anymore. I mean you did see what kind of people now plague the ranks? Any trigger happy monkey can now get in, some even get to control their own warships. I'm trying to slowly depart, but I don't think I have anywhere to go for now.
