Just a quick poll to gauge opinion on the Mining Update, as outlined here.

I won't publish my own opinion here; read the notice and discussion in the linked thread and make up your own mind.

The fact that this was done without contacting any mining factions who know the situation in their respective ZOIs regarding RP and OORP situations or even, as far as rumors go, even not contacting the rest of the dev team really makes me wonder about the current build of the devs and whether or not devwork should even be done if this is the approach that is being taken.

Are you even asking this seriously?

Completely arbitrary division into barely viable primary sell points and entirely nonviable secondary sell points
(Nb 23-Orleanais, very short, no danger, viable; Nb 23-NB, very long, plenty danger, nonviable - same price for Uncut Diamonds at Waterloo, ~11 minutes, and Lyonnais, ~23 minutes)

Zero regard for mining field locations (Molly GB patrols in gold field, no access to Cambridge Be for BMM, etc)

Totally overdone nerf which essentially makes mining less viable than (contraband) trading

Everything about this makes it obvious the person who did it does not mine and has no idea how to treat the mining system, which should come as no surprise to anyone.

Fells like it was done by somebody who wanted to make piracy a lot more profitable without any thought given to the fact that mining might become so unattractive that people might stop doing it

This actually hurts piracy.

No one will mine, so no one will pirate.

It's not about that. People will still haul cargo, be it ore or purchasable commodities, but the worth of cargo itself will be significantly lower, which is why the pirate will also have to demand a lower amount of credits.

I don't usually reply to threads like this, but in this case, I guess I'll just have to.

So, lets say these changes take effect. This will mean, that when the time comes,(= being completely broke) I'll have to jump into a trading ship, instead of logging the ships that I actually like. I would have to fly more, for less cash, cuffed into a vessel that I mostly despise, on a character who's as boring as watching rocks fly by.

But lets kick it up a notch. Some POBs would disappear, or be moved, because storing ore would be either a no go, or would suck out that minimal profit which is left. Oh, and add dangerous mining zones, in some cases.

And that's just from my point of view. Plenty of other reasons could be mentioned. I would say huge "no" right into the face of these proposed changes.
