David Hale's apartment had an incredible view on all of the Lenox Hill district, but it was also an apartment that used to be regularly empty until recently. Being the Fleet Admiral of the Liberty Navy tends to make you slightly busy, your own life itself becomes a second zone problem.
"He's here." said a little girl, suddenly dropping her crayons on the table. "What do you mean?" answered a woman, whom was preparing dinner.
The little girl stood up and headed for the large window bathing the entire apartment with Manhattan's unique night lights. "He's over there. On the 5th Avenue."
These words were not expected for years. These abilities in the hands of an adult were already more than dangerous, but in the hands of an innocent little girl still unable to dinstinct good from evil. Lost in her thoughts for a few minutes, Kate left the meal to cook on its own and approached her daughter.
"Look at me Lena, and listen very carefully. You are not supposed to be able to do this and one day I will tell you why you can. But in the meantime, you must refrain from using this kind of abilities. It is very dangerous and some bad people will try to hurt you if they become aware of what you can do."
But before she could finish her motherly speech, the sound of a key sliding in the apartment's main door lock was heard.
David Hale was home.
