History:

After Project MIDAS, a former joint project group between The Order and the Coalition with the intention of constructing a facility in the Tau Regions failed to come to fruition due to the break of the Alliance between the organizations, the engineers from the project were re-assigned by the Coalition High Command to begin training under the Coalition Marines Corps with the intention of allowing the Coalition to both secure and construct rapid fortifications in space in/near hostile territory. This included training from the Fighter Corps on the use of the XKR series of Snub-Fighter and heavy use of both the Zhukovsky Station simulators and training in 0-G in a hostile environment [Siberia].

"Kursk' after their initial training was assigned to the Omega Front to begin surveying suitable locations for a fortified Forward Command Base in addition to launching commando-style strikes against hostile targets within both Rhienland and Corsair Territories. While still considered by most of the standing Coalition forces as 'green' the SOG-K are still considered highly dangerous due to the addition of Coalition Marines in their ranks to shore up their offensive strength.

The Special Operations Group is expected to fully redeploy to the Omega Region in preparations for increased operations in Omega-49, Omega-5 and Omega-47.
