So I've seen now in alot of official factions that they tell you "Or just use the indie ID" instead of actually handing you out the official ID.
I'm wondering now the rules say you are not allowed to carry more than 1 ID with 1 Tag. So what the hell? Are Official factions allowed to use Official AND indie ID? Can someone clarify this?
There is no reason to not use the faction ID.
Faction members that's say that are in a way denying some faction perks that the ID can have.
As a faction member you are more like obligated to have it.
An easy way for factions to give out IDs is to have an ID ship that is docked on the station and can meet you in Conn to trade IDs.
I think, in this case, it is logical that certain members of official factions (e.g. new ones) should be wearing indie IDs, because Official Faction ID counts as SRP ID. But, that's to be left for Green Headmasters.
Take into account that Official Faction ID and Indie ID may have way different lines which should not be allowed for e.g. newly recruited members - given only when they have more experience, but that's only my point of view being a slight suggestion.
If you're in the official faction, then yes you should be using the official faction ID. Because as an official faction member, as mentioned above, you'll more than likely have added lines and less restrictions. Say you are doing something that an official faction is allowed but the indie is not, and you are tagged as official but have the indie ID. That could be confusing to people outside the faction that you encounter and they could submit a violation report on you due to that. Just creates a headache.
tl;dr - if you're in an official faction, and your ship is tagged official, get the official faction ID. If someone gives you crap for this, ask someone else in the faction, or ping an Admin so they can switch it for you.
Not all LSF members use the official ID. I don't care, because the ID has the exact same rules and restrictions. Why it makes a difference to Snake is beyond me.

This is nonsense. If you fly as an official faction member you use an official faction ID regardless of its perks. Whether you may make use of those lines on your ID is not just up to the individual, the faction leadership decides that.
Most IDs are the same as their indie counterparts. And since there is a very large gap in balance balance between usefulness versus time and effort put in to obtain said differences between the two IDs, it will remain that way.
