Okay, so obviously the only new bases and structures in Cali are the HF Base, Riverside Station, and the Ontario Trade Lane/Jump Gate. I want something else new here in California. Since this infocard on Planet California Minor says that terraforming on it should be close to complete, I was wondering if we could turn it into more of a world with new oceans and forests along with the already existing icy desert. The Geothermics should be able to support such an ecosystem, and it would help show the progression of time on the terraforming project.

Here's the infocard at present:

Wikigen Wrote:First surveyed when the California system was opened up for exploration, California Minor is a small, icy world with a barely breathable atmosphere. It has always been considered unsuitable for conventional terraforming ever since the initial survey landings, largely due to the frigid surface conditions and overall distance from the sun, although the surveys did detect unusual geothermic readings deep below the planet's crust.

In 741 A.S., Planetform devised a method to channel the planet's enormous subterranean stores of geothermic energy, releasing greenhouse gases and introducing alien organisms into the atmosphere to speed up the terraforming process. Planetform estimates that the terraforming process will likely be completed around the year 826 A.S., but temperatures have already risen by as much as 30 degrees on average. Despite the harsh planetary conditions, the increasing availability of jobs on the planet has attracted large numbers of manual labourers, particularly from the Colorado system, and California Minor's population is estimated to be just over 8 million at present.

Here's what California Minor looks like now:

My idea is to not only change the surface of the planet, but also the name. Basically, this new planet would be named "Sacramento", and would contain a climate similar to Planets Hamburg and New Berlin. Here's the infocard I would go for:
Cyber Byte Wrote:First surveyed when the California system was opened up for exploration, Sacramento was a small, icy world with a barely breathable atmosphere, previously codenamed "California Minor." It had been considered unsuitable for conventional terraforming when the initial survey landings were conducted, largely due to the frigid surface conditions and overall distance from the sun, although the surveys did detect unusual geothermic readings deep below the planet's crust.

In 741 A.S., Planetform devised a method to channel the planet's enormous subterranean stores of geothermic energy, releasing greenhouse gases and introducing alien organisms into the atmosphere to speed up the terraforming process. Planetform estimates that the terraforming process will likely be completed around the year 826 A.S., and temperatures have already risen by as much as 30 degrees on average. Due to this, more conventional methods of terraforming were now possible, and environments such as oceans and forests have been implemented, along with a much more breathable atmosphere.

Sacramento is still a developing world however, and due to this only the most durable plants and animals have been able to survive its climate outside of the environmentally regulated regions dotting the planet's equator. What makes matters even worse is that the icy deserts and mountains formerly encompassing the entire planet still occupy vast spaces across the surface, making them unlivable for the average civilian. Despite the rough planetary conditions, the increasing availability of jobs on the planet has attracted large numbers of manual labourers, particularly from the Colorado system, and Sacramento's population is estimated to be just over 8 million at present.

Here's what my idea of what Sacramento would look like:

So, what do you think? Think this looks pretty legit, or do you want to bash it with all your metaphorical might? Maybe you'd like to tweak the idea a bit? Make sure to leave any feedback, even if it's something stupid like #deletegallia, because I simply want my idea to gain attention amongst the community and its members.

2019/826 A.S is when the update that finishes it's terraforming comes out.

I don't really see the reason of a name change, other than that, it is always a good idea to modify things so they show time passing Smile +1

I figure this could show signs of it being "almost finished", as it's still pretty darn cold but also a bit more livable. Terraforming is a slow process, therefore it won't instantly change from ice world to farmable land world.

I figured that California Minor is an unoriginal name, so that's why I want the name change. I've still mentioned the original name in the experimental infocard though, to contribute to it's history.

I like this idea, purely because it fits the given lore.

I have tons of ideas, but since this one was the most lore-friendly one, I posted it instead of the others. I figured people might like that more.

Eh, Toledo. I used to love this planet in vanila. About OP, this idea is interesting.

Will discuss it with the rest of the story team, but I think this is promising.
