Not cash, this time, but Cargo.

Is there a maximum amount that's considered reasonable to pirate a trader for? If so, is it a set limit or a percentage?

I've heard of pirate transports pirating 5k ore haulers and demanding to be filled up - that's over half (2800).

I know there are no hard and fast rules, but I also know there's a point at which the "ruining other player's game" rule comes into play and the Admins step in.

Thoughts, experience?

Cheers.

A reasonable demand would be what you can carry. You and/or whoever is pirating with you. You can ask for all of your Cargo from a 5ker but doing it just to destroy it is a dick move.

Admins have said several times that the max demand is whatever the pirate demands....
Some others have just said the cost of your cargo or your full cargo.

So basically, don't bother trading when the pop is over 20, and don't trade through systems that have players in them.
It's ridiculous.

remember that a pirate revolves really around stealing and making a profit on the stolen thing.
a terrorist rather would be making chaos.
It is more inRP for a xeno to ask for cargo to be dropped and destroyed than for a pirate to ask to do so. There can be ofc objections to this basic train of thought.

Also no... that is the wrong attitude to have for traders.
Traders are protected by the rules because of the demand rule. There are ofc exceptions to the demand rule and easily over-rided if the pirate is a jerk, but yeah.

Usually when you pirate... you do not oorply want the trader to give up on trading ever again. You want it to have a good experience so that they would be trading more and you can catch them again. Smile

There are no rules regarding cargo piracy, but just use common sense.

This attitude is what is actively killing the server.

You loss your cargo, you are better off telling them to just kill you, because it's faster then continuing on the route, that way you can pick up a fresh load instantly, don't bother to rp, just tell them to kill you or run into the nearest planet or ignore them until they kill you, they want to ruin your run and waste your time, also do this if they ask for the price that you would get for selling the cargo if you are not close to the dropoff point because it saves a bit of time.

The attitude that is killing the server is allowing pirates to be ****s to traders.
We didn't have this problem back in the day when there were strict demand limits, as soon as those were gotten rid of pirates started demanding 5 mil, 10 mil, often even more, since then all pirates have wanted is blue messages, before that they were great, they'd demand a few mil, you'd pay, and everyone would be happy because everyone got a few credits and no one had all their time wasted.

That really is disgusting behaviour and it's most likely people will keep coming back for YOU because you do these ridiculous and stupid things. I've met many pirates that RP and ask for a small donation. It's funny because even when pirates ask for little cash a lot of traders still do this above thing. I wonder why. Oh wait. They're being encouraged by people like you. Stop.

By the way. It's fair to demand 5/10 mill from someone who is carrying Ore in a 5ker since you make stupid amounts of money as it is.
