I'm curious as to how me and some other people should run our future events. This weekend we have events of both types running.

But I'd like to know what the community general thinks/prefers as you are the participants after all.

Mixed of course, it is by far more fun than split fights.

Personally, I'm completely okay with mixed brawls and think they fit more.

However, the quality of the fight really depends if the players rely on the capitals to do most of the damage or play as support, or the caps are actually just targetting each other and sometimes snubs in the midst of it.
Also camping near caps to avoid damage and whatnot.

Solaris gunboats in snub fights.. gods no. Anything solaris is kind of ruining the entire snub experience. Capital ships in snub fights should be with something less EFFECTIVE at completely decimating whoever you're targetting without your target noticing until it's too late.

I prefer mixed stuff, but also think it would be awesome to have once just a pure capital fight/event.
Like as many as caps possible Big Grin
Maybe cause I am capwhore so can't help it Tongue

It's a RP server; it makes no sense for a cap fleet to stay back and withhold fire while some of their people get shot out of the sky. I can get into and even enjoy a mixed fight for the RP aspect but the moment I'm yelled at because "lol stay out so I can have fun and you can't" is the moment my blood pressure spikes and my vision goes red.

...Okay more red than it already usually is

EDIT: So I'm explaining myself poorly here-

I'm all for fair fights, but both sides have to actually be acting fair and have to have come prepared fair. If it's 3v5 not in my favor and I'm on a gunboat, I'm joining in. Sorry but i'm not about to let some people get free blues like that. If it's an all out snub brawl and it's mostly even, I'll withdraw and amuse myself by shooting nearby rocks or pulling up a web browser on my other screen until such a time as it becomes unfair.

Event fights wherein the cap and snub fights are forced separated are kinda silly though. Some of the best fights I've seen have been massive mixed brawls but if people want to limit that, that's their choice.

Cruiser Razors to reset the snub fight by providing unlimited bots from newbie snubs in seconds.
GB Solaris and missiles tearing into the snubs to protect hugging snubs.
Gunboats will rule the field again, and they will hug the Battleships when pressured.

And in the end, it will be little fun except for a few lulz-veterans on game-breaking classes with which you can "shit on everything!" best.

That's what will always happen in open fights.

Not interested. We have had that hundreds of times in the last years. And back then - when the concept already failed - there were not even insta weapons and gunboats like today. Big Grin

Can only be good. Wink

Depends entirely upon the context of the event.

What he said.
As I mentioned before, some setups are too effective (highly damaging to their prey, low probability to be countered) that they will wipe one of the corners of the opposing team and collapse the balance of forces faster than anything possible. If there are no restrictions to classes on the fight, there needs to be restrictions to loadouts or equipments.

Facing a stacked deck of aces cannot be fixed by switching between one class or all class fights though.
