So I was pirating the other day on my Junker character, and came across trader. Okay, typical situation in which I am simply interested into cargo (not ores) rather than to be paid AND having a packy transport ship.
Trader said "kill me", what made me partially discouraged. But then, I wanted to offer him a chance to show that I am not really willing to kill him. Sadly, he started firing at my vessel immediatly right away after dropping that line.
So, traders stating "kill me" instead of roleplaying their way out are still a thing?
It is because a very active player, more active than any angel, constantly sits in Penny and interacts with every new player on the server and has a grudge against unlawful players and is spreading the notion that pirates should not be ever encountered or roleplayed with.
EDIT: I looked at your screenshot again. I really do not see either party providing good roleplay in this situation.

If you think it happens only to pirates, you are wrong. Police encounter suiciding and "kill me" traders (precisely smugglers) as well.
Also like others said, it´s nothing new, it happens for years unfortunately. Though I wouldn´t mind if this would be sanctionable, it´s very immersion breaking and discouraging.

Well you did demand his entire cargo, so rather than survive and fly all the way back his point of origin he got you to kill him, saving time. Perhaps a slightly more reasonable demand may yield more positive resuilts next time.

Asking cargo is reasonable demand. Once again, it was cargo piracy in a transport.

As I said already in OP, it was caused by the fact trader already started to run multiple times (most possibly having F2/Cruise), then started to fire at me right after his last message.
Also, uh, not all pirates are well-versed poets citing Shakespeare. They are blunt and go straight to the point. So I am really sorry I annoyed you with my will to keep a character speaking rather few words.

On the other hand, the trader can try to negotiate. 50/50, both sides still win and had a fun encounter. That's how I try to solve the situation when a pirate faces my transports. (... and it worked)
