Not talking about planets for the moment.

Bases as in stations.
If one were to figure out the correct dimensions for a base and prove their dimensions and program inside and what not, would it be possible then to direct those dimensions to the mod itself and re-size the bases to fit proper scale?

I know that bases at this point are just symbolic of places you can dock and the stations that would be there, but perhaps people would be enough interested to have a better scaled up station in the game?

What benefits would this change bring?

Not only stations, but planets. Not to mention the capitals are 2small - especially battlesheeps. It is possible, but it will cause lag most likely. I'd like to have planets of Tides of War's size.

You can upscale the model in a program like milkshape.

Then we'll have to upscale planets after that.

Otherwise, say hello to a 5-PoB complex I'll be roleplaying as a Death Star.

just atmosphere, pretty much.

Rochester if you look at it is ridiculously tiny . The tops and bottoms are all wrong in scale and the docking bay is just enough for 1-2 fighters to get in.

It would just be more atmospherically pleasing if you had larger stations that would look alright in scale. It would be a better sense of immersion.

That is all modeling is for anyway.
What is the point of making different models? Exactly that, no?

In terms of battleships being able to dock on them, however, I always just imagined them to stay on the outside mourned and shielded.

Possible up to some limit. With a lot of effort re-arranging everything else on map.
At large distances from the origin of coordinate system (which is a consequence of scaling things up and distances between them) floating point error grows up, camera shake appears and collision detection may start failing.

I have studied this and examples are given in my thread: http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=81888

FL MOD(EL)MAKING: TOOLS, RESOURCES, TUTORIALS AND MY SHIPS (OLD)

I am on discord: Roal-Yr#5994, I don't log on forum more than a few times a year.

I am not making ships for FL anymore, I am making my own space game instead:

Can Trade Lanes also scaled up that way or does upscaling the model not fix big ships not getting the right position to use the lane?

It would be cool. It could however bring up a problem. And that is the ammount of time you spend in TL. For example you have stuff scaled up. (hattan is really huge along with stations etc...) You take the TL from Hattan to WP...the travelling in it would take AGES... not necessarily but if you scale stuff up you need to increase the distance between them to make it look like they are at the same distance yet they are bigger no?
(don't kill me if what i say now is completly retarded) Big Grin

There is no feasible possibility to fix the scaling issues in Freelancer.
