Hello~

While doing my research on Nox I have been skimming through all the actual info out there on the drug and.... well this is all that I found:

http://discoverygc.com/wiki/Nox - Wiki Nox info card
http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=100275 - Forum topic on its effects 2013
http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=101896 - some RP from 2013 related

I've been doing some RP on the drug's experience of my own as well [inserts self-bump]

What I need to understand fully is the following things:

Quote:Nox has initial time-slowing and sedative effect, shortly followed by increase of brain activity and hallucinations while the consumer's body is relaxed. In some time, the hallucinations are followed by very deep, nearly lethargic sleep lasting for 12-16 hours, after which the consumer experiences short-term amnesia.

How would you feel time slowing down? Do you react slower or do you react quicker because everything else is slow?
When you increase in brain activity does that mean you can think clearer for a time?
How do hallucinations work?

and finally: Depending on how much you take, would you then experience the initial high longer and then hit the deep sleep part later?

From what I read of the forum topic, Nox is similar kinda to Weed... so I am guessing anyone who smokes would know something about this.

i would really hate to write more things and then be forced to retcon .
Bump?

I guess if no one says anything then I'll just move with whatever info I have.

That would be the most fitting real drug.
You should find lots of experiences in the net

The slowdown-effect makes people react faster. Never had a friend who played an ego shooter after a bit mary jane? They kick ass and it's terrible. No joke.

There are several drugs, legal as well as illegal, which do that. They make you able to focus very hard for a period of time, and then you will need to take another to come back to that state again. Mostly they tend to make very much addicted.

Medical induced hallucinations can be very real. Not only those trippy, good/bad trip hallucinations but also very real hallucinations like a reasonable talk to a person you know. I guess it's up to you how you will "play" it. If you never did a medication or drug that had an effect like that, you maybe can imagine having a dream and instantly waking up while you were in the REM phase of sleeping. The brain will need some seconds or even minutes (in very worst cases) to make you remember where you are, who you are and what you are. Escpecially disorienting if you have a double-sized bed and decided to sleep diagonal placed on the bed.

Nox is actually Laughing Gas like at the Dentists office. Very hard to find anymore. It has been regulated to the point that most dentists have resorted to local anesthesia, like shots of numbing compounds.

Nitrous Oxide, yea pretty much the same thing as in the NfS campaigns, has all those traits of NOx when you breathe it.
The Real Side Effects of Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas) Look familiar?

THE IMBALANCE OF POWER is a construct of THE MIND systemic to the reactions between the subjects of the system. POWER is given by those who acknowledge such power. REFUSAL to acknowledge power removes that power for THE REBEL; however, it produces anomalies in interactions throughout the system. These ANOMOLIES cause the UNPREDICTABLE nature of the system that all users CRAVE.

I'm pretty sure Discovery Freelancer Nox isn't Nitrous Oxide, judging from the horror stories in infocards and stuff of its supposed effects.

I guess it's supposed to be sorta like SLO-MO from Dredd, if you watched that.

It also really doesn't sound like weed. Dunno where you got that idea.

It'd be kind of amusing if the entirety of the Gallic populace was irrecoverably addicted to laughing gas though.

As a connoisseur researcher of narcotics, I've a bit of experience that may be relevant to your questions.

"The effect of the drug also cannot be reproduced by any known drug" This makes it harder to speculate, so take all I say with a grain of sal.

The slowdown effect described is something I've heard a lot. It is described as time feeling as if it were passing very slowly, (minutes feeling like hours) in an extreme case I found someone who had believed they outlived all of humanity because they were convinced they had been sitting in their chair for millions of years. Very rarely heard someone describe the world as moving in slow motion, however.

dont take drugs
With this drug, the increase in brain activity may come from the hallucinogenic effects. This might not help your concentration. Someone tolerant of the drug might be able to focus through the hallucinations, or receive them less intensely.

It varies greatly with the drug and potency:

Could be something simple, like seeing the walls "breathe" or odd patterns. Or it could be an extremely intense alteration of your consciousness that defies any description fathomable. Given one of the descriptions for the effect is "spiritual" this may be some potent stuff.

It says the mixture of the drug includes a "complex combination of flunitrazepam, psilocybin".
Flunitrazepam: This is a benzodiazepine, most of them are for sleep-inducing, anti-anxiety, anticonvulsant, and muscle relaxant purposes. It also can have paradoxical effects.
Psilocybin: This alters your perception of time, among many other things. I don't know anyone that can sleep after using this substance. It can cause peaceful feelings of oneness or terrifying feelings. It intensifies what's already in the person in many cases.

It might be hard to go to sleep if you had just taken this stuff. Taking more might make the effect more intense but perhaps not longer lasting; hard to say with a fictional drug. If you kept taking it to beat the crash you would likely pass out in between doses and have a dreamless sleep.
