What's poked the back of my mind lately is the simple question: What would the Victor demand from the Loser in a conflict?

Suppose for example the Coalition was forced to capitulate to say...Bretonia should the Hessians and Corsairs be pushed back and leave the Coalition vulnerable from attack from Omega-49. What would Bretonia demand/do in such a situation?

There are many hypothetical scenarios out there, if you have one please leave it for any conflict in progress (present), let's see what the Community/Factions think would happen in different scenarios.

Remember to keep it cool and no flame wars. >_>

That is not what this is about Wesker, I am legitimately curious as to what folks think about various scenarios. If somebody attempts a flame war it'll be dealt with. *shrugs*

I suppose it's something like being someones vassal, so the Coalition would like operate under the Bretonian Flag or either they force you to join an Alliance with them or something. Maybe overthrow leader and put a new one that's cooperative in whatever Bretonia may demand in the future.

Stellaris came in mind, so there you have some good examples of what happens or could happen or could be demanded.

This sounds like the most likely hypothesis.

The Coalition is an immense threat to the Houses, but to space-nuke them or get them to cooperate on their own* would be counter-productive. One would waste all the precious space vodka and the other would result in the Coalition buttcloaking the Alliance again.

Either annexing the Coalition worlds or turning them into puppets with a new government & military under constant surveillance would work.

The SCRA would probably be forced to allow a multi-party system too. And plant tea on Beijing.

I recall this happened several times before.
Some Zoner station in corsair space and a Rheinland base in Rheinland.. oddly.
I don't know the ins and outs but from what I recall, it depends on who you know on skype as to what happens to them.
One remained autonomous. The other was taken over.

If the Coalition surrendered to Bretonia, Bretonia (being a house of commerce) would naturally demand structural reforms to allow for free trade.

Said reforms, and the surrender to the ideological arch-enemy (royalists), would obviously leave the Coalition, and more importantly its military, in a state of disarray and chaos. Parts of the military would rebel to avoid this total defeat. They've been spoon-fed propaganda about the enemy for generations, afterall.

The Hessians* and Corsairs would move in on the weakened Coalition, trying to get their chunk of the collapsing Coalition's space, and the Bretonians would be well aware of this, and wait until that moment when the Coalition, on it's knees and facing complete obliteration, would beg for help, at which point they'd actively provide defense for the Coalition in return for full vassalhood. The Hessians and Corsairs would eventually back off facing a stronger fleet, and in the process the last few 'true Coalitioners' would either have perished in wars or be rotting in jails.

20 years down the line, Planet JiangXi will become a quaint tourist attraction for adventure-driven Bretonian tourists who wants to see the remnants of the curiosity which was the Coalition. The Premier will be peddling old Coalition war-time souvenirs on a rug in front of the Kremlin.

Surrender is not an option.

*Depending on their ambitions, it can be argued that the Coalition won't be an asset to the Hessians anymore, if they are subjugated to the Bretonians, at which point it might be beneficial for the Hessians to simply just take over, rather than let the Corsairs have the spoils of war.

Well, I'm a few days late to this argument, but I will give my view regardless.

I think surrender wise, sectors would be taken, outposts/battleships placed in certain areas...and maybe come ships taken for trophies.

I only half-read the other arguments.
