Hey guys. If you haven't heard of Discord before, it's basically Skype, but better. It's a Voice/Text over IP program that features way more customization than Skype does. Features include, but are not limited to:

- Roles : Different users can be assigned different roles that grant access to different channels and commands

- Multiple chat and voice rooms per server : Different areas for different types of discussion. You can easily start a voice chat by simply joining a voice channel. No /golive or annoying call required. Just hop in and chat.

- Servers are FREE : No need to pay for them! Discord allows you to select regions, and options for your server at no cost!

- Discord itself is also FREE : No strings attatched. You get everything, 100% for free. No need to pay for calls, no need to pay for anything (except maybe cosmetic stuff in the future). It's all ready for you right from the start.

- Easy support for bots things : You can run bots in your Discord server that perform all kinds of amusing or helpful automatic functions. You can even try to make your own bot if you think you're up for it.

- Web Client & Desktop Client : You can run Discord in your web browser, or use the app on your desktop. Pick your poison!

I think I've made my point. Discord will allow factions to manage themselves much more efficiently than with Skype. You have multiple sections for different chats, easy voice chat, multiple roles, FREE servers, the works! You all should try it.

In fact, I've created a Discord server that EVERYONE is welcome to join! Do whatever you want here. Text chat, voice chat, whatever. Knock yourselves out.
Click here to join the Discord server!

If you don't want to use the Discord web app, you can find the desktop version here.

Discord is garbage.

I wouldn't say Discord is garbage really. I find it extremely convenient since it has way more features than Skype. IT'S THE FUTURE PEOPLE.

I do like Discord, and I think it has significant advantages when compared to Skype. (However, like the metric system, you'll find a significant amount of people prefer to just stick with "what works" and what they know, even if I'd disagree on the former assumption)

However, I'd drop the argument that Discord's voice communications are better than TS. Even with a few people we experienced significant packet loss and other issues (which, granted, are largely based on individual client setups), and it simply doesn't have the same level of permissions or flexibility that TeamSpeak offers in a voice client. It's nice for an on-the-spot voice chat system, but I don't see it replacing TS3 any time soon.

You'll have a hard time convincing people to switch though, although I'm sure Skype will get obfuscated and frustrating enough that eventually a large-scale switch will be required. Or not.

I do think that when it comes to VOICE that TeamSpeak has bigger advantages, but Discord has the advantage of bringing both text and voice into a single package. It's kind of like a merge between the two, with a few flaws. That's why I think we should try to begin a switch to Discord instead.
