The current rule is:
> - Bases located within 15k of mining fields will not be permitted to advance beyond Core 2.

But should *any* POB really be allowed within 15k of mining fields?

Yes it will be allowed if it's more than 15k away from mining fields

As long as there's no platforms, I don't see too much of an issue. You can raise shields to stop people from docking, but unlike platforms which constantly deny the area.

That is my understanding the current rule. But what is your opinion?

My opinion about it is that this rule is very good and prevent so many unwanted events that happened in the past
Bases that are in the middle of mining fields, prevent others sometimes from mining there and this is not acceptable.
I believe that 15k+ is good rule for bases close to mining areas, and i think if there will be an exception for some bases, then they should be defense arrays free.

No, because you could build defense platforms and deter others from mining a small area. Not applicable for vast fields, but small areas (Iridium ore, Azurite) could be made exclusive.

Other than that, I see no reason the PoB can't be in the field.

Inactive; hope to be back at some point

Not only 15k in mining fields, but also next to jump holes or jump gates also...

I think that 15k is pretty far away from a mining field. And if someone were to put in a POB that was hostile to everyone and effectively deny the field to people, that would be a great reason for some RP driven POB assaulting. That seems like a win-win, instead of just requiring a POB to be so far away it doesn't have to be interacted with.

And of course, I'm sure some miners would seek to be allowed into the zone by financial diplomacy, etc. so it really opens up a host of RP actions. It might suck for those looking to amass credits, but I think from an interaction standpoint it's sort of nice.

I don't see an issue with PoBs being near or even IN a minefield, inRP there is nothing to stop any corporation, or even a solo miner, from starting up a starbase to deny opposing miners and corporations from mining a particular field. On the opposite side of the fence, there is nothing to stop any pirate or corporation from blowing the station to little bitty bits. If some wayward person builds a hostile PoB near your preferred mining spot, pew pew it's gone. no problem.

Sure, it can be viewed as toxic (not by me), both in and oo RP, but just like real life, corporate espionage and warfare are a real thing and should be taken into consideration before allowing or denying the PoBs.

Please also keep in mind, no matter what you do to try to prevent and curb stomp toxicity, there will always be someone to step up to the plate to create a new way of being toxic.

just my thoughts.

So I say yeah sure, let the PoBs be where ever.

EDIT:
Should also mention I'm one of the few people that despise PoBs in general and would prefer they be completely removed from the game.

I think bases should not be permitted within 15k of mining fields. As far as I know it creates the same abuse able system that resulted in scrap mining being nerfed so badly. By all means, allow it, if you're willing to restore scrap mining to its former glory. As I've seen in some Youtube vids from a couple of years back, people used to undock at Rochester, mine scrap right on the undock, dock and sell, rinse and repeat. What is the difference from that to POBs in a mining field, except that POB's doesnt have unlimited storage?
