It seems that Traders think they can do whatever they want. "Cannot participate in any unlawful actions" doesnt seem to have anything to do with trading. When a Trader rolls by, in Alaska, refusing to stop, carrying Cardimine, doesnt that sem quite OORP? I find it VERY angering that no one has the common sense to read their IDs.
If a trader doesnt stop when demanded to stop and your a pirate you have a right to shoot them. If they are in alaska and dont leave and your a liberty you have a right to shoot them.
I hope that answered your question.
EDIT: added
If you are Order and they are in alaska with cardamine you have a right to ask them to drop the cargo and continue on. However you do not have much of a right to shoot them.
might add - asking them to stop is not sufficient to shoot them ( at least not when you shoot them dead ).
every faction, no matter if its lawful or unlawful must apply a sufficient amount of RP ( transparent RP ) before opening fire - or it may be considered to be focussed on pvp only.
when you are a pirate, you also have to ask for a certain amount of money before you kill them, or you incriminate yourself.
if you are annoyed at those traders... ignore them. in the end, you are offering to RP, if they refuse - let them be.. what harm is it to you. you can of course also go on ranting - but if everyone rants at everything that annoys them - the whole forum would be full of rants. ( which it appears to be sometimes )
The whole 'cannot participate in unlawful actions' thing is rather vague. For instance, it doesn't let the corrupt LPI take bribes, for instance, by my understanding of it.
What pisses me off are traders just sitting idle to watch a fight between two groups which cannot pirate.
This is just lame. A trader is supposed to be scared of combat, not "ah.. I'll sit there to watch."
I mean... err... *puts on sunglasses, pulls out the MIB-memory-erase thing, and presses the button*
Next version, the Trader ID receives a nerf, so I'd say not many people will abuse it in this way. Instead, they'll do the same with a Universal ID, then you can report them.
I always thought the part about not being allowed to participate in unlawful actions included smuggling. Especially since we have a separate Smuggler ID for that purpose.

Yup ... I know what you're talkin about ... now lets wait for some justifications as to why they are exempt from that.

It's all rather hazy.
And here's the first one. "Vague" ... "Hazy" ... see ... its ok and acceptable ... so we cannot question them or call them OORP. We must just let it go.
It's not really that hazy to me, "Cannot participate in any unlawful actions" seems pretty clear. In the case of the LPI taking bribes, well they've made that part of their RP and I think that's acceptable, if your smuggling you are clearly taking part in an unlawful action and thats violating your ID, If you want to smuggle either choose a smuggler ID or a faction ID that would smuggle, such as a Junker, Rogue etc.
