Ok, I have to get Liberty Navy guard reputation on my fighter, bomber and gunboat. My question is: Is there any way of doing this within say a century?! I have 20 factions maxed green, and if i lower one reputation, more go up. I know I'm suppose to get the Liberty Navy down to neutral and then this will magically bump the LN guard up to the top spot (apparently). By RPing going to other Houses to rep-change, I have added even more factions to the full-green list...it seems like an impossible task:wacko:
Please tell me if there's a shortcut because I like being in the Liberty Navy...but I've already spent about eight hours correcting the damn rep, and im not even half way there. It seems ridiculous that I'm spending more time doing OoRP rep-fixing than actually RPing.
tell ya what. here's how i got my outcast guard rep on Gneisenau
get your guard rep all the way green. Then, do not lower the regular navy until guard rep is second from it.
Lower all the other faction reps until they are all neutral. THEN, lower your regular navy rep. Your guard rep should pop into place after wards. Oh, do not shoot navy ships to lower the regular rep, they will also lower your guard rep.
To easily get full guard rep from starting repsheet, do the following:
Take a bribe (optional) NB: even if a double bribe is offered, a single will be better, if it is guard you aim for.
Take missions for the faction, and only for the faction. But do not do them. Get someone else in the faction to group with you and complete the missions. This way, the only reps going up will be the faction rep, and it's respective guard.
Once guard rep hits max, check your rep sheet for other full green factions (you may need to do a once-round of sirius at this stage to get all the factions on your sheet). NB: guards (except the intended one) do not matter at this point, as they are unaffected by allied missions.
Now, drop all reps save the guard rep you want and it's respective faction rep to just below top. This will result in you faction sheet looking such (read upside down):
Faction
Guard (intended tag)
everything else
Now, all that remains is to drop the faction rep by failing missions for it (take mission, f6, abort, repeat).
If your rep sheet is messed up before you decide to try for guard tag, you will have to drop missions for other factions in order to get the end of the sheet to look as above.
If you're worried about being OORP while tagfixing, do it when there are not many people online so as to minimize your chances of having to explain.
I managed to take a character from Gaian tag to Unioner tag, to tagless, and finally to Order guard by this method.
One final thing...are you sure you need to get guard tagged? Maxing guard rep is easy (mission grind), and there is no visual difference between guard/normal, save that most people will see guard as hostile, and, as such, will be more cautious towards you.

That part is true, in 4.85 you need to have full guard rep to buy caps and ID's, but you only need to have that rep at full green and not you're main IFF. so you should be able to keep your regular navy IFF. At least, this is my assumption.
This rule is pointless. It takes too long to get that tag, and quite frankly it won't really stop cap-spamming. Why can't I focus on the roleplay, instead of running all around Sirius, like a headless chicken, to kill NPC's?

Well, I think it will stop cap spamming, or at least the bad capital ship roleplayers. A good player will take the time to get that tag, a player who just want to fly a capital ship because he can't kill anything else without it won't do this long task to get the tag.

That is something that could use a bit of Admin clarification....
Does the new rule regarding capital ships needing Guard IDs for their respective faction also require the ship use a Guard IFF? (Considering all the trouble outside, outside admin-intervention, required to drop allied reps that are full green due to missions)
First : Max your guard rep
Second : Get the bribes of your worst ennemies (outcasts, unioners and xenos for a navy, look for it in the freeports)
Third : Fix your hostile reps !
funny I never had that much problems with my Navy guard tag.. biggest problem was cramming the dreadnought through all the debrea fields that missions take place in...
Iâll carry this flag
To the grave if I must
Because itâs flag that I love
And a flag that I trust
