What part of a ship cruising away and telling you they don't wish to engage...

So yeah...I was on my SCRA character a few minutes ago..Cruising through Bretonia, on my way to go down to Cambridge and hook the JH back to the Omega's so I could go "Home"

and some Outcast, non faction.

Sees me, and proceeds to attempt to engage me based on my IFF saying Xeno, not on the fact that I was SCRA, if he had engaged me for being a Coalition pilot, yeah I woulda turned and fought, but even when I tried to tell him I wasn't a Xeno, he didn't believe me and he proceeded to chase me even after I told him I didn't wanna fight, and despite the fact that I was cruising away from him, he chased me to the next system and killed me before I could say a word, and without another word to me. Before that, all he really said to me was "Xeno Stop" and what I said to him is "I'm not a Xeno, that's just my IFF " and he then goes "Well why is your ID Xeno?" and then I told him OORP that my ID is Coalition and that the reason for Xeno IFF is because we don't have our own, which he completely ignored.

So...yeah, I'm just pretty angry at the whole "Red or dead" mentality crap...Yes I know, we all have to deal with it, but the fact that he didn't listen to my explanation for my IFF, just...really got me...Normally I don't make posts about this kinda crap but...I needed to vent...hah

Lots of people see Xeno IFFs as KoS, sometimes without even RPing, like Xenos are some uber-terrorists with incredible ships. Hell, I've been engaged by all sorts while flying around in my Xeno starflier.

It's as if some people hate Xenos in an OOC way and will do anything to kill one...

the recent sanctions show that it is not necessary that both sides need to be willing to fight to have an engagement. - an engagement is already happening when one side decides to attack - so in that point, he was right... when he attacks you - you are part of the pvp, when you keep cruising, you are retreating and you have to leave this system asap.

if he follows you, he is chasing - if you keep cruising, you are still retreating even in the next system - the 4 hours rule apply, so does docking or F1.

the part that he considered you by the IFF is - well, a natural evil. players LEARN that they need to consider people by their ID first - by their IFF second. - if the coalition ID is unknown ( cause its not a generic FL ID ) - unaware players judge you by the IFF, w hich does show Xeno ... and so is ( like the coalition ) hostile to an outcast.

he was right to attack you - and he was ... based on what he knew, probably right to call you a Xeno ( even if you don t like it - but if someone is not too familiar with disco - cause one is maybe new or something, "coalition ID" doesn t tell you much )

that incident doesn t sound too disturbing. - a minor misunderstanding on his side about the RP of the coalition. - but he did interprete the rules correctly... a pvp engagement happened the instant he engaged you.

I was fighting with 4 dragon gunboats, 1 dragon cruiser and 2 BH battlecruisers in this month which were using cruising for shield recharging;)Im not surprised when I see it again and again.

@Jinx, what we have to engage all the time someone fires at us, unless they take my shields down i can do whatever i want. also did there not used to be the gentlemans agreement on this server that both parties consent to the pvp?

Also an indy outcast would never want to take down an SCRA pilot, one gets hunted and shot for shooting a coalition pilot down. also not that hard to find out who we are, go to forums.

ha... i guess some ppl get very... ahh, focussed once they made a decision. - so maybe he decided to attack you... and NOTHING would have made him abandon this idea. - you know - like a predator... once they see the victim, its very hard to distract them - very single minded:laugh:
