It was a little after 3 am. Steve stared blankly into his half empty cup of coffee. They had been on this salvage operation for almost 17 hours now. He glanced down at his watch and cursed. Steve glanced around while standing and walking across the rather cramped bridge to a phone hanging on wall. He frowned, he hated calling Charles, the Foreman of the smelter. Steve shook his head and pressed the number nine, he was the Captain. The phone rang twice before getting picked up. ”Forge Here” Charles commanding voice easily breaking through the din of the smelter. "Charles it the Bridge how...". Charles cut him off ”Steve? This isn’t a good time” Steve groaned at the response, "Charles" he was cut off again. ”Steve, I said not now” the line went dead. Steve sighed and hung up the receiver. He was the Captain, but he was still at the mercy of the foreman.
