Do you think there should be total control over capital ships such as the RM has done? (You must apply to High comand for a capital ship then if they decide you can have it ok, but if not...) or the other way, which i dont know what it is, uhmmm Chaos? Capwhores everywhere attacking everything?

What are you talking about?! This thread is the best Christmas present ever.

Rules say that factions can only police their ships when it comes to people without the proper tag/ID (doesn't say so specifically, but they do), not with indies of the proper NPC faction.

... What does the RM do? I think I already argued this point, already. If we regulated our ships the way you are implying we do, you probably would not be flying one right now, Cam. ... Or do you think I have a list of people who we're not to kill? ... Right.

And, on that note, I'll not be voting and be off!

Grawr, factions are groups of independants.
There be no difference between a group of independants, who just happen to have the same name tag, bullying other independants than factions 'restricting' independants.

Why the hell are factions even trying to restrict independants anyway? If they want to reduce people being 'OORP', they ought to show a good example and hope they follow, not try be server police.

There is merit for both positions in my opinion.

The way I run the LN cap restriction is very people friendly. The idea behind it is to improve gameplay for both lawfuls (independant and factionalised) on all sides of the law.

I saw far too much massive overkill in the area so I brought it in.

My veiw is restricting caps on the basis of overkill. People have to apply for their cap but they -will- (on a trial basis at first) get the ship. We then see how the behave in the thing. Should they go chasing down people who have no way of defending themselves against it then we remove their license to fly the cap. They can also re-apply if they lose the ability to fly it. So long as they can show, in game, that they have learned about fair play.

I was very hesistant to bring it in. Not because I feared the possible flames, but because I didn't particularly like the idea of impinging on other people's roleplay.

So long as the restrictions are used in a way that is -geniunely- for the betterment of the server then the restriction is valid in my opinion. If it it based on "THOU SHALT NOT FLY MY SHIPZ!!!1" then I have to disagree with the sentiment, and wouldn't support any restriction based on it.

Official factions have a duty to the area they roleplay in, keeping it sane, and a good environment for roleplay. If that means restricting caps so that -everyone- can roleplay properly then so be it.

Capitol ships are by nature powerful, and can utterly ruin people's experience of the game. I'd hate to see that happen.

The arguement against this kind of restirtcion is weak at best in my opinion, however the argument against a power-grabbing and superiourity based cap restriction is oevrwhealmingly in favour of not having it.

I voted 'other'.

Merry Christmas discovery. Stay hopefull.

Well, you can, if you really want to, buy any capital ship, so long as you aren't caught. If I wanted a Rheinland Cruiser, I can always fly to the base and buy one. If I go to Munich or some other system with hardly any people, what will the RM care?

Anyway, I really don't think they should restrict caps RP-wise, I think there should be guidelines that they have to read here on the forums and follow them in-game. Most caps can RP well, they just waste time going after a Light Fighter.

A way a lone a last a loved a long the riverrun, past Eve and Adam's, from swerve of shore to bend of bay,
brings us by a commodius vicus of recirculation back to Howth Castle and Environs.

I think that for the most part Cap ships should be restricted by approval of the faction. However, I believe they should be allowed via Special RP as well.
