So I've been mindlessly smug... erm, "Trading"... for the past few days just to see how much money I can scrape up before 4.85, and when I got back to new york after a round trip of sirius I saw a new player (level 6 in a starflea) asking what a good starting trade route is... now, even the cruel tenacity can help out the new guys once in a while. I told him about the new york - new london luxury food/goods route, and gave him a booster of 500,000 credits to get a better ship for trading with.
For some reason that put me in the incredibly odd mood of giving away money, and since I had gone several million past my goal for the night I parked my firefly outside of manhattan and began quizzing the local populace on random facts, both from discovery RP and from the singleplayer campaign.
I asked a total of 30 questions, and each correct answer awarded the player 250,000 credits. Around 24-25 of the questions were eventually answered by someone, while the remaining questions I had to answer because after several minutes nobody came up with a response that was correct.
All in all, about 6.5 million credits were spent between that new guy and the quiz awards, and it was pretty fun at the same time =P
I do sorta a similar thing with my characters from time to time, if i happen to meet someone deserving or putting in that lil bit of extra effort its worth it to reward that effort with something, even if only 100,000.
Positive reenforcement can work wonders sometimes, and even be fun. :)
Heh, I give away 100,000 away sometimes randomly but i gave it to every low level so that nobody is below level 10. I also give 1,000,000 to anybody who wants to buy a capital ship.:)
I do something simila sometimes... when starflyer ask me about "how to start" I'll give him 1 milion and say him what to do with them. My question is simple "what do you want to be in gam" every answer is correct except "I want cruiser"
