Just saying its fairly odd that a cruise disruptor, a missile that is ment to disable cruise engines, if fired on a ship , a large ship even, which mass surely would make it a hard to stop force if be set to drift via EK, so i doubth that a cruise disruptor has any chance to stop it.

why would a CRUISE disruptor REactivate the engines?

Its like you are wanting a EMP pulse to fix your fried tech or something.

It a bit silly yes, but without it traders could get away too easily

Yeah, it has no logic, that's a fact, altough how Coriko said, traders can just kill and continue in speed 349-330 for next half hour... which is.. wrong. Also some capships (GB...and the especially missle GB vs Fighter class) would be a bit too ultimate if you can't engage their engines again. So. I'm not sure, we cold prefer either realism or leave it how it is.

I believe it is hard-coded. Besides, it's often a useful tactic for fighting Gunboats in a smaller ship.

Ah well...i guess the disrupt could cause a glitch and your engines start working again...

By all means, get it fixed, as long as all ships that can mount a cd, get another hardpoint for engine-kill disruptors. It's part of a nice tactic and can make a huge difference in a battle (not only against gunships). The part that needs to get fixed is the part where allied npc's get hostile if a cd explodes near them. But i heard that the new mod won't have this "error" anylonger, don't know for sure though.

Well firing a CD its considered an attack in the rules, NPCs follow the rules and go all self defense like..

Maybe we can make a scientific explanation. It's all fantasy, but hey...

CD overloads engine conducts or circuits and forces it to restart to normal working, and that is normal speed, no thrusters, no cruise... Yes, you can start to flame me how dumb that idea was. Thanks.

EDIT: And maybe it's named CD just because of its primary role...

I wrote a really funny FL story, but it disappeared when the old forum went away. So, no lulz for you today.
