Not trying to be an ass here , I just wonder why the rules prohibit using cruise during a fight? Seems like it's a part of the ship and we should use it as a tool. If I cruise to run or catch up ( not that I have) why is that bad? Can't the other players also use it to catch me or get away? Seems like rules for the sake of rules to me.

Not a really good explanation, but yes. Shieldrunning is the reason. Although I agree with you and I have always found that rule preposterous. Why is there not just a rule not to cruise in order to shieldrun? Anyways, I don't feel like debating this because I know the end result.

If that is the only reason for it , wich I doubt at best , I don't agree with it.
A fighter , if the pilot has atleast some brains , can NEVER , EVER , EVER and EVER die while in a "deffence mode" from a Battleship.
So should the Battleship loose what little advantige it has ? It sure seems totaly OoRP too , if the BS commander/admiral/captain/what ever can destroy a hostile ship why shouldn't he/she use all means nessesary?
too new (playing for more than a year) to Discovery to know the actual reason of the rule, but i agree that a BS will not kill a fighter that wants to scape. This rule would make more sense to me if ships could fire when cruising, but since that is not the case.....

I don't wish to argue , but I simply can't agree with this. Because it just does not happen. A fighter can simply turn around , thrust towards the battleship , while staying very close , but not too close to hit the BS , and engage cruise then. The Battleship can't even hope to engage cruise and turn fast enought to capture or CD the fighter.
Like I said and I'm absolutly sure about this. A fighter who wishes to escape a BS , cannot be killed. Simply as that , it is not even a question of skill , like Grimly suggested in another topic , it's the game. Here agility is way more important then hull streinght or firepower.
