First of all, this is not a flame or a rant, i respect the community and the admins even more as they have to put up with 2000+ whiners every day.
So...people, this is what i see.
"no u cannot rp like that"
Why cant we RP like we would like to.
For example, if i keep my rp nice and tidy, so no other community member is upset or hurt by this. I try to do my best not to upset anymore people with my behavour and so on.
So, what is rp, and what is not. Role play is limited by our fantasy, yet still, there are many things that we cannot do, because of game limitations, or, in this case, because it is not in the original freelancer story.
But arent we the ones who build the future for discovery universe? Causion is needed, i agree, with my egotism i allmost broke out a war between three factions, i still am sorry for what i done, i still learn from my mistakes afterall.
People, so what do we have now. A few people have...unique rp, yes. No need to nerf them though, who knows, things might end up nice.
A while back we had a corsair titan in Alpha, wishing to join the outcasts, he had a good RP.
he was blown out of the sky by a oc dessie "//u cannot rp that."
so...*shrug*
what are the rp boundries for disco.
I could explain in rp how a hessian ship can get corsair turrets.
How a pirate became a LN
How a IMG albatross uses pirate equippment.
in my case, how a human fell in love with a nomad.
All is possible in rp - rp is the reason most of us are here.
Why the limitations?
This is not a request for a rule change. This is to make people think about things.
You gots a point. (which I must admit, your a pointy kinda guy)
I think it can get a lil outta hand, I can basically justify ANYTHING if I put me mind to a good story, but then-
will the community understand?
will the community accept?
and how many times will you repaet your claims till you give up and become a talking NPC?
It gets kinda hard when we "want to be something" and we're told the big "no way."
I guess we have to roleplay within gameplay, be in "acceptable limitations" which the definitions are beyoned me. So, I go for talking NPC nowadays, since my crazzzy pirate arrow Idea was shot down long ago.
So I guess I don't really answer you question at all-phail.
Yes.. I saw hoodlum posting in a thread....
he said something like
"A mercenary is either lawfull or unlawfull, he cannot have both unlawful and lawful equipment on his ship"
This is my main RP, I really love it, its my greatest one. I dont think its too out of reality. I was thinking of RPing a way to have Outcast turrets on my Zoner Juggernaut in 4.85... but When i asked a few other of my friends, they shot it down... so i didnt...
But IMO, its because most of the community who see something out of ordinary reffer to it as "supermen" wannabies. That we wish to be more powerful, better and so on.
Yes, in a way, they are right, we simply wish to bring something diverse to the table, but its not aceppted most of the time.
i had wondered, though, i am thinking of making Gneisenau back into a cannibal, if i would be targeted for wishing to consume my own kind, witch he is currently an outcast. so, would it be considered oorp for me to have a *craving* to shoot down a molly or rogue so he can be a cannibal and eat them?
' Wrote:in my case, how a human fell in love with a nomad.
I wouldn't think that's too hard to do. I mean, if nomads could submit images straight to our minds, it wouldn't be too hard for someone to think a nomad is a beautiful "Person."
And, well, I do suppose that the limitation is in common sense. If you'd look at the rumors on Freeport 5, it becomes apparent that Corsairs don't just procreate with everyone else and run off, giving away their equipment, or that BowEx is quite corrupt and doesn't do things exactly legally, or that the Farmer's Allinace hates outsiders.
Really, I don't think that it's really as difficult to understand as most people say it is...
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.
We have a system set up for special RP requests. Sure, it takes awhile and requires alot of work, but if you get accepted you can have the freedom to RP how you want, but people won't be able to casually make up strange or different RP without some community input and understanding.
