Incoming Transmission
Liberty Security Force
Dagger Complex
Puerto Rico

To all applicable command elements:

At 2219Z 16.10.824, Dagger Complex's Bering Array picked up a large spike of inbound traffic toward Freeport 2, flashing scrambled transponders and running unidentified ship idents. Immediately, elements of the First Task Group, incl. the LSFC Fidelity and LSFC Willow Grove, were dispatched to the scene.

It appears a large contingent of hitherto unaffiliated pirates, criminals, and fugitives have taken control of the station, with the previously limited Zoner presence aboard the station being reduced to near-zero. By the time our battlegroup arrived in high orbit, the station was already sending out a modified transponder code, and any requests for hail or docking access were immediately denied.

I can only make the conclusion that the same dissident elements we saw first taking refuge within the Zoner freeport have now taken that hospitality to another level, and claimed the outpost for themselves. Dagger's scopes have reported minimal in and outbound traffic following that spike, which only serves to confirm what was originally reported. I'm aware our resources are stretched quite thin from the war with Gallia, but this could nevertheless become a very problematic thorn in our side, should we allow it to fester. While, yes, the Zoner's laissez faire attitude allowed these same dissidents free passage in the past, it did not afford them the sheer logistical capability that having control of the entire outpost affords them - and that ability to fully stage what could effectively amount to large-scale raids on merchant convoys is something I don't wish to see become a reality.

As it stands, I'm placing a request for reinforcement vessels from deployed LSF field agents, but any outfit able to take over a station - even a "peaceful" Zoner outpost like that - would likely have some serious firepower, and I'm not willing to be flippant with the agents' lives deployed aboard this station or any of the civilian vessels that head through this corridor, or the Hudson corridor, for that matter. With the Texas gate and trade lane still active, any vessels moored at that captured Freeport will have free reign to pirate and slaughter anything they want heading toward or from Rheinland, and our response times won't be able to keep up. I recommend we get ahead of this problem while we still have the chance.

Regardless, I'll await your orders and suggestions on how to continue. For now, Dagger will continue its mission, and keep its eyes and ears open for anything out of the ordinary.

In service to the Republic.

LCDR James Watson
Officer in Command
LSF Dagger Complex

Greetings,

As you may imagine, a rising pirate activity in the Border Worlds, especially on a station connected with trade lanes, is a bit of a problem. While the LPI don't operate in the Bering system, as it is outside of our described precincts, I can assure you the aid of our officers will be at your disposal. I will have larger forces arranged to Houston so that they can help when necessary.

Yours sincerely,
Commissioner Dawn
