Polstari Syndrome:
A mental illness prevalent among law-enforcement, military, and Intelligence personnel. It is believed to be contagious, though the vector has yet to be determined.
Symptoms include:
- Complete loss of any and all self-preservation instinct
- Irrational singlemindedness in harassing private citizens
- Incapability of listening to reason
- Belief that unquestioning and immutable adherence to someone else's commands is a good idea
Elroy and Anton are sitting on the chairs next to each other in the Mama Brick's rec room, looking over the same screen showing the footage of various flights of Lost Company fighters. After several minutes of silent viewing, Elroy turns to his associate.
"Hey Anton, this Polstari fellow is quite the stick in the mud, and it appears that he has means of making otherwise decent Liberty law-enforcers emulate him. I hereby declare him Patient Zero of Polstari Syndrome." To which Anton laughs; the man's stubborn nature had cost him a pretty penny. When he turns back, he's noticed Elroy heading to the section of Mama Brick labelled "Hazardous Materials - KEEP OUT", a campaign hat gracing his head. He grins. "So, Big C, up for some research on this new disease we have discovered?"
"Biggles, I'm always ready. Let's roll."
Minutes later, a pair of ships loaded down with testing equipment (read: armaments) and plenty of bait (Grade-A Lawful Bait, 100% success rate) to catch the afflictees is deployed out of the "condemned" hangar. For science!
