The 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment (commonly referred to as "Delta"), initially formed in the late 20th century and re-formed again in 689 AS, is made up from the most distinguished and skilled personnel from all of Liberty's military branches. Highly trained and efficient and equipped with state-of-the-art weaponry, Delta operators conduct various asymmetric warfare operations in order to enforce Libertonian interests, on the ground as well as in space.
Only the best of the best are allowed to serve in the legendary 1st-SFOD. To be even considered just a candidate for the rigorous training procedures one need to complete to be admitted into the 1st, one has to fulfill high expectations, and only a few of those that actually make it into the 1st's special training camp complete their courses successfully. These that do, however, can be considered true masters of their art: be it conventional, unconventional or psychological warfare, be the battlefield on the ground or in space, be there a need for combat or negotiation - the operators of the 1st are well prepared for it.
The 1st's objectives include, but are not limited to, counterterrorism, dealing with hostage situations, protecting high-level VIPs, reconnaissance, drug raids and surgical strikes - however, we are not a police force. Fighting low-level piracy, smuggling and similar forms of crime is the duty of the LPI; while we do not tolerate individuals engaged in such activities, we will not actively hunt them down.
Note: This is NO faction proposal thread. I am well aware that this faction's description may be lacking something or be flawed - this is the reason why I'm opening this thread. I'd really like some feedback on my little project here. Questions, suggestions what to do better, etc etc, everything that's meant constructive is welcome.
I really like the whole idea tho it is somewhat similar to the LSF's role it still has a touch of originality to it, which is quite appealing. In fact I'm personally interested in joining this group/faction.
' Wrote:Only comment I'd like to add is... -pleaaaaaaaaaase- don't use capital ships.
Other than that, uh, I already mentioned somewhere that I wanna be part of it, like 3 days ago. xD
Thinking of it... I have to agree with Etaphreven. To keep the feeling of a "special force" that would take care of operations swiftly and stealthy (similar to the LSF), the usage of capital ships would diminish this. Of course for Role Play reasons you could utilize a flag-ship but regular gunboats shouldn't be necessary for usage.
Now related to the LSF kind of activity (man do I mention the LSF alot...) how about using the Ravens Claw? The way the ship looks and it's background roleplay, it would be an ideal ship for this 1st Group. But perhaps you should first ask the LSF faction leader if it's okay with that tho.

Agreed on the first part, kinda not on the second:P. The Raven Claw is like, twelve kinds of ugly, no offense. Looks like a low quality picture :/... I'm biased but, I think most imported ships are ugly. (Only ones I really like are Raven's Talon, Crow, and uh, don't know what else.)

Just a suggestion hehe, I wouldn't mind using the Guardian/Avenger (they look pretty cool as well.)
Anyways now I'm going a little off-track from the topic so I have said what I wanted and will stop spamming ^^
As for the GBs - well, no need to worry, they won't be used very frequently. They'll mainly be event ships; you're completely right about them not really being something used by Delta-like special forces. For most of the time, we'll only fly fighters and bombers.
The Assault BC I mentioned on the wiki page probably won't be used for combat at all, as it's mainly a mobile forward operations base and thus a RP ship.
Hm, Avenger or Raven Claw...well, I've thought about using the Virage for some time. It's pretty much free-to-all and should also be allowed by the rules according to someone I know who's in the dev team, but before I'll go final on that, I'd still like two things - admin permission and to have tried out flying the .85 version of it first. In my opinion, it's theme fits the 1st even better than the RC, but atm, it's a rather...subdecent ship to fly (even though it looks completely awesome;)).
If you want to join, just talk to me on Skype - nathraelthe42nd - and I'll add you to our Skype chat. But as said, you'll have to fund your stuff on your own - I'm broke and I'm already getting nightmares about powertrading for the 500 millions that I'll have to pay to get the faction reviewed and checked if it could be made official :| .
Oh, and thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it.
' Wrote:make sure it does not become a lolwutting group
Eh? I find that slightly insulting... and I believe I talk on the behalf of everyone in the 1st SFOD when I say that. We're not exactly new-comers, or whoever else you'd give that kinda advice to. <.<
