They only way is to dock at base and try to buy the ore (or log as admin and check supply). There is no other way. Some players solve it by letting one unused ship on the POB so they log it and check if there is ore before they fly there with their trader.

Since the /viewshop command is back, PoB owners could publish them on the forums.
Otherwise, no.

Okay but is the /shop or /viewshop command only for the people who own and run the POBs or can traders also use those commands to see whats inside the POB commodity-wise? Asking because I'd never heard of those commands before

Well, a PoB owner can create a /viewshop Password and share it with suppliers etc. this will allow them to see what the PoB can store and has stored. Aka like the /shop command you have has a base owner.
