I'm curious, given the fact that there are a lot of Atrains on the server, if you think there are too many, and if so, whether introducing more 5k transports will alleviate the problem.

I think trains should be restricted to corporate ID's so that people would actually have to RP to get one, no more power traders on trader ID's, more RP on the server 2 flies in one stroke.

Yes, there are far too many Adv. Trains around, which is made even more ridiculous by the fact they should be solely operated by Corporations.

I'd be game for more 5K transports though. People will keep climbing up through the ships until they reach the top of the tree, and if the top of the tree happens to be the Adv. Train, well, you get a lot of Adv. Trains don't you?

More choice can only be a good thing and would encourage diversity. Oh, and all of you reading, join Bowex.

EDIT: Another good question would be, why are there so many Police IFFs?

Both: Yes. Multiple choices always win! People would ditch train for some RP wise same cargo transport.

hope i don t backstab you, unselie....

question 1 - are there too many? - no... cause i consider the A-train to be a generic "truck". - for me, every truck on the highway looks the same. - when i see an adv. train, i don t see an adv. train - i see "a transport that the NPCs refer to as "supertransport" - no real distinction. - its just whats up there - and its fairly alone up on the top.

question 2 - would that change? - certainly ... when more variety is offered, people choose from the variety - usually based on their RP and the looks.

but i don t get annoyed for seeing the adv. train... its a good model that is a trademark for a "trader" - and thats it... it doesn t transport any faction association to me. - so i don t see a rheinland transport, but just a transport.

There are to many Adv. Trains in the hands of Zoners, Junkers and the house police.

There should be more corporate vessels!

i would have to agree with Jinx on this one, but it doesn't stop me with wanting more diversity. The only problem is that it is the best, i would of thought the corperate companies would have more money, they would be more specilized with transporting goods ( as its how they live) and would have better equipment than the generic transport, which in this case is the A-Train.

Jinx makes a couple of good points.

And with regards to there being more corporate trains, just read the 4.85 ID's. You won't be able to fly an Adv. Train unless you have a specific corporate ID.
Besides, if you look at the way our world works today, a lot of truckers work as independent contractors, meaning that their trucks belong to them, and they pay for the cargo the buy and ship it to a place that pays them a higher price per unit than what they bought it for. And yes, they do this in the largest road-legal trucks available, since it maximizes profit.
Wait a second, you say! That sounds a lot like indy powertrading in FL!
Ah, but it's true. So I guess the government should outlaw trucking as well, since all trucks should belong to some huge transnational corporation, right?

You want more play restrictions, you get 'em.

I agree with Jinx, so far as what the Atrain itself is. In point of fact, Jinx's suggestions on what transports in general are have molded my own impressions. There, I run up against an agreement to not leak dev.
