Well then!

I was chilling in World History today, when Mr. Magoni starts talking about Prussia and Austria. So he keeps talking, and talking, until I hear him mention a group called the (pronounced as) 'Yoonkers' spelled as Junkers. So that got me thinking. I've always read the name of the Junkers (FL) as "Juh-nk-ers" but in my mind I've sometimes read it with a really weird German accent as "Deinen Yoonkers, ja!".

Obviously its not 'deinen'. Shows how much German I know, but some of their words are just so easily exaggeratable, and you can just say stuff like that and it sounds right-ish. Right... Off topic. Aaanyways.

So yeah, that got me thinking. As it stands, since (I think?) they started in Rheinland, I'm now leaning towards the 'Yoonkers' pronunciation as opposed to the hard J pronunciation.

What thinkst thou all?

Info Linkages

-Edit- I left out the last parenthese on the second choice...

*feels silly* *cough* Any nice admins out there? *googly eyes*

They do piles of junk, hence, junkers:P

Though admittedly any Rheinlander would probably say "Yoonkers"

The Junkers did not originate in Rheinland. The full truth about Junker origin will not be revealed until 4.85 is released.

Yeah but... <strike>If they started in Rheinland.</strike> And they live in fields of junk that they claim ownership to, couldn't it, by the below linkage definition be considered 'landholders' there and as such, called 'Yoonkers'?

Or am I reading too far into this?

Linkage

-Edit- TRUE! But, they're strongest in Rheinland beyond their devious schemes in relation to Gallia. Just 'cause you go undercover with a gang in New York, doesn't necessarily mean you're from New York City. You could be a cop from another prisinct, for instance. They have to be considered by the rest of Sirius from SOMEWHERE in their ignorance, no?

I'm going to go with Junker, as in one who junks things, as that's, you know, what they do.

NPCs say 'Junkers', not 'Yoonkers'.

NPC's also say, "I'm out of... Heading to... Farewell!"

I guess at this point it comes down to technicallity and whether or not the FL lore is as related as what it seems to be in every other category.

That's because of new bases and destinations. Vanilla didn't have this. But they did say 'Junkers' in vanilla.

Everyone also has an American accent as well, so it's debatable as to the Rheinlander pronunciation of the word.

Junkers as in the FL salvagers/possible Gallic spies are not supposed to be related to Junkers as in Prussian nobles/military officers. How many nobles dig through scrap piles for a living?
