Basically, a few days ago, my comp screen broke. I now have a new one, and having truckloads of issues...
-The screen itself is 1920 x 1080
==>The maximum resolution my Nvidia Geforce 6800 can get me is 1680 x 1050
=====>1680 x 1050 causes some lines of text to be normal, and others blurred. Eg...
Plain text (this one is ironically showing up blurred on my pc)
Blurred line
Plain text
Plain text
Blurred Line
Ergo...is there anything whatsoever to help a poor guy who knows next to nothing about computers?
Also, that brings us to our next problem...the search function hates me, and I can't find how to change the Freelancer resolution to a custom one without my pc dying.
NOTE: That is for making FL in 1680x1050, just switch all places where it says that with the resolution you want.
NOTE2: Part of this hack is tweaking the fonts and positioning of the HUD, so it might look odd on a resolution higher than the one the settings were made for in the hack, so you might, in a drastic case, have to try to manually tweak the HUD positioning.

Old widescreen tutorial i re-phrased/wrote for myself to make it easier to understand. Looks like this. Try it out:
To get freelancer working in widescreen in this case 1680x1050 do the following 5 steps.
Some files might be write only, right click on the file and chage properties temporarily.
When changing mods you will need to re-edit prefoptions.ini, on some occasions cameras.ini & freelancer.ini as well.
When you start up Freelancer the top bar in game might not be visible, undock and dock again for the bar to appear.
The bar will appear as normal every time after that until freelancer is closed.
1. prefoptions.ini
C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR LOG IN NAME\My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\prefoptions.ini
1. Replace section at the bottom of file
What he said, same thing pretty much. Just note that it's 1680x1050 in both tutorials posted in this topic, there really is no 1920x1080 tutorial, so as I said, some manual tweaking to the positioning of stuff might be needed. Test it and change accordingly.

Question. Seeing as my screen is built for 1920 x 1080 but my Nvidia Geforce 6800 can't do anything higher than 1680 x 1050...
...Would I be in any way frying my pc, or making it otherwise go nuts, if I used the tutorial to set it to 1920 x 1080?
If it is too much for your card, your computer will just shut down on itself or the game crashes. Just for safety, check your graph's temperature. Do that with a program called Everest
Anyways, when a game gets too demanding for a system, the computer just restarts.
