Okay, just to clear the mess up created by DarkOddity and several of the GoR members, consider this rule in effect IMMEDIATELY.

This is an amendment to the PvP rules. I will have Igiss add this later.

1) Battleships, Cruisers and Gunboats will *NOT* use Cruise to accelerate, then use Engine Kill to gain the speed boost for ANY REASON WHATSOEVER. If you're going to use Cruise, you better get use it to get out of the fight, otherwise you will be fined for the first offense, then the three-day ban.

2) Fighters will avoid ramming enemy ships as much as possible. Intentional ramming (Crusing around a ship then ramming it) will result in a *VERY LARGE* fine and possible banning if it continues.

I want this clear. Battleships should never exceed their maximum speed. Cruise is for that. For interstellar travel, not to be used in the middle of a firefight to gain a speed boost.

Fighters *DO* take damage from ramming a battleship. However it's minimal. USing this tactic to give your allies a tactical advantage is not a very "fair" trick, so this ends now.

This rule is in effect as of MIDNIGHT Central time (1 and a half hour from the time of this post)

Wolf ... Apologies, unlike me to miss something so important. Are you saying here then,
that if a Capital ship enters cruise speed for any reason during a during a PvP, that would
count as a loss of the battle, and this would mean that they would not be allowed to
re-engage ...

Basically, yes. If they hit Cruise engine, it's considered running. No real world capital ship would do this unless they were forced to withdraw.

Just a thing that happened a few days ago...

A cruiser in pursuit of a train (both in cruise) -- the cruiser kills the engines to be able to shoot. How would that be looked upon?
(I was the cruiser and I disengaged when told about this but nevertheless)
Also, I hear there are players who still use the 'cruise away' tactics in combat while piloting a battleship...

a little break, Thanks ...

I never use cruise unless I'm retreating, like the fight of Angel and Nightfall vs. my cruiser. I was stock, didn't do to well against 2 fighters..

If I ever use engine kill I only do so at thruster speed or lower, not cruise. Though I also wonder about the chasing thing. Can we engine kill when in cruise chasing? Its the only way to hit them without disruptors.

So Dab ... Seven of us didn't see you using cruise in your Liner in Delta last night. Also
noted was the weapons loadout that made us treat it like a Battleship, not a transport.

He did say it was going to be heavily armed...

But yes, this does bring to light that the Luxury Liner has been (For some time, if I remember correctly) slightly overpowered in the power supply department (Try saying that 5 times fast).

I had a Lux Liner once... Had a brace of BS missiles and Kusari Primary Cruiser Turrets dotted the rest of the slots. Worked very well for a battleship, much less a cruiser. The only forseeable problem would be actual PvP combat, but that never happened (Got wiped out because I didn't use it enough) so I don't know for sure how well that would have gone.

EDIT: And I just hijacked the thread, didn't I? >_<

Cleanup in Pinned Topic 1!

Well Hoodlum, when I used that cruise I was RUNNING. I wasn't cruise engine killing or cruising for shield. 6v1, who is stupid enough to do that with a train shield and liner? Then I flew out to the Lost Battlestar so I could respawn. I was retreating.

And yes, once I did go after Onyx, because I decided, hey since I'm dead (had half a bar left...) I might as well take one with me. Didn't know at the time that she was AFK..

The liner has always been over-powered, I tried firing a BS inferno turret repeatedly, it took about 20+ shots to drain the power so it couldn't fire again.

There is no way a current BS can do that, your lucky if you can get about 10+ shots off and thats using a pair of them.
