POBs and ID Rules

Splitting off from a discussion in the 'Overhaul Sieging Rules' thread: I've noticed that most IDs don't actually specifically elaborate on how to deal with POBs, and there's nothing in the rules to make exceptions/clarifications either. The only IDs that really do have a line that allows them to deal with POBs are Lawful IDs with law-enforcement lines. Are they treated as ships? If so, which?

In light of the recent discussions regarding POBs, rather than giving just clarification, I think solutions to improve upon base mechanics would be better.

A:

Quick, simple solution: POBs are treated as transports as per the rules. Houses/Governments can tax them via their law enforcement lines or deal with them as illegal entities. Unlawful IDs must make a demand before sieging them. Special IDs like Xenos, Nomads and Wild - any ID that is allowed to engage transports straight up - can siege them on a whim.

Small problem: I don't think the Order, Hellfire, Coalition and Separatists IDs would be able to shoot POBs in their current state. They may need an adjustment.

B:

Complex, thorough solution: All IDs are rewritten to incorporate specific POB siege lines. For example, certain POBs must require demands. POBs belonging to certain factions may be removed on a whim. And so forth.

Problem: It'd require a lot of effort and concluding how each ID would interact with bases based on their respective roleplay.

Solution A has some issues. I think it's along the right lines though.

Wouldn't this make every siege the Core has ever done against the rules?

FTFY

Jokes about your past with POBs aside, some examples as to what you're on about would be nice, Wesk.

I think the only times we have sieged POBs have been in systems containing a Core base. Personally, I tend to avoid POB sieges, I'm really not a fan of them.

Yea, this would make the roleplay much more consistent. Especially when the BDM decides to build a PoB in Omega-54, following our extortion demands, they actually pay up - and we have to allow it to remain in place. Of course, you could demand it to be moved among other things, but then a sanction report against the attacking faction goes through for unreasonable demands.

This idea is dellusional.

With that in mind, I feel solution is A is along the right lines. Otherwise, specific POB engagement lines may be a requirement.

POBs that are diplomatically hostile should be up for removal without a demand.... even if it's not perfect in curbing toxicity. Although this is actually how House Lawfuls have to treat hostile IDs on their borders, and the system seems to be working mostly fine...?

Neutral POBs should require more substantial roleplay for sure though.

Whooooa, gonna stop you right there. I should at least get fair warning in advance before the Rozzers come and bash my SHIZUNE in with a FWG.

Well, as Wesker outlined, there's hardly any logical circumstance in which RHA would extort an RM POB. They'd much rather blast it.

Got to point it out. It's true. You plant a PoB in a system comprised of enemies and stuff, it's logical they'll come and blast it sky high.

Do it like the Reavers built Poena. Nowhere in sight. Independent Systems. Had a legal front. Had an unlawful front. And by the time anyone realized it was on a dark matter cloud with anti-battleship gunz.
