Vanilla Freelancer Bug - No Text

I am trying to get my friend into Freelancer, YAY! BUT there is one huge problem; multiple boxes have no text, INCLUDING the installer (inb4 install Agency FB, we already have). It seems some menu text is fine, and things do show up, but upon start of the game the text in the tutorial boxes weren't there so he stopped playing. I've installed the same Freelancer ISO, unofficial patch and JFLP and my text is absolutely fine. FYI, the text was missing on the installer from two separate ISO files. Is he missing anything? Have any of you encountered this issue?

I believe that this is your issue? If it is, fix by going into your fonts folder removing all FL fonts manually, then reinstall them.

Ignore what is written above. The Discovery Mod was not installed in the right clean Freelancer installation folder. Same bug happens to 50% of the new installations.

100% will solve. Made 3 people with same bug do this this month. Fixes every time.

Purge and reinstall didn't work - just checking if he did it properly.

win + r into fonts, delete and reinstall agency FB

note that the main menu has text, but the boxes after the opening cut-scene don't have any text:



Will get him to install speccy at some point, but I believe he is using a 1070 and an i5 6600k. Thanks for the help!

Make sure you have Microsoft Sans Serif
