First off:
HI! I'm Kookee!

Next:
This formatting.

Over the few years that I've been apart of the community, both on and off. It shouldn't have been much of a secret that I've been this character. Now, I know that it's in faction rule that personal identities are to be kept secret and confidential in the regards of Roleplay.

We structure ourselves around this ideal, we build our communities, we grow friendships around every character that we portray ourselves.

And we HAVE FUN!

We have fun around the ideas of fluctuating politics, border disputes, Turf warfare, Trade warfare, Technological warfare, This-That-and-other Warfare!

And I've enjoyed my time here, even being in such a fun group where our faction does alot of criminal things. And we get to blow up alot of you guys reading this!

One of the main things that we do here in the Lane Hackers is that we 'virtually' smuggle drugs.
in game, this drug can be lethal.
Granted, this is an 'imaginary drug' and it's not hurting anyone.

But today a real drug has hurt me.

July 22nd 2008,
My brother was driving home from a party after midnight with his friend. My brother skipped just parking at home, decided to drive his friend home in the opposite direction. My brother failed to make a turn and collided with a fire hydrant.
After the collision his vehicle pushed on forward and landed head-on to a tree.

My brother's friend attempted CPR on my brother, but with no avail, When the ambulance arrived; My brother was declared Dead on Scene.

My brother's friend suffered spinal injuries, and was left with a lasting permanent injury that left him unable to earn an income.0
I've personally witnessed him years ago grinding his pain medication into a powdered form in order 'to get more out of it quicker'.
Which lead him down a dark path of addiction that lead him to jail time.

Now years later, I have received the news today (Apr 11th) that he lost his battle of his addiction.

I've gotten to know this guy, almost a 2nd brother. Even before he had the accident with my own brother.
I went to High School with this man.

So, with that being said, even if I receive penalty from the Faction that I love and serve: I'm making a public statement:

For said personal reasons: I shall be for one week I'm flying inRP as "Zero Cardamine".
I refuse Drug smuggling, I will not hold a single unit of Cardamine in my hold (contrary to faction rules)

I'm not asking anyone to shut down the drug smuggling, but, if you do, that'll mean something to me.
I could use a little 'pat on the back'.

Very Respectfully,

Kookee2k2 / Stefan Pomerov

You have the condolences of everyone in the XA-, as well as the assurance that orange will burn and we'll mourn with you.

From me personally, I'm incredibly sorry for your loss. Take some time to heal and don't let your mind engulf you with the pain, focus instead on the positive moments you shared and cherish all the experiences you had with both your brothers. They might have passed on, but you can still carry their memories. I don't know you personally and I won't pretend to, but if I could mail you a hug, I would.

Stay strong and do those men proud by living a full and happy life for yourself. It's what they would have wanted.

I've had personal experiences in my lives and the lives people who I cherish being destroyed by similar scenarios. I'm blessed to be in the category of people who manage to not be ensnared by it and move beyond. This is not something everyone can be in pleasant enough scenarios to do, no matter the strength of will. It is a horribly stigmatised situation and help is rarely available when its best needed. It's a... horror to lose people to addiction.

I hope that you manage to recover happiness, Kookee. One of the wonderful elements of discovery is our freedom to roleplay what we choose.

Thank you for that reminder.

If you ever need anybody to talk to, I'm available.

I am sorry to hear this. Losing someone close is fatal, it can pull you down so easily, into a depth you can hardly escape from. I can imagine too well how you feel. Stay strong, mate.I am glad to see you can stand up and speak about it, reminds me that deep within the Discovery community cares for each other, past all the dramas and crap.

I will honor your decision to lay down Cardamine for a week. I will follow your example and encourage GC| to take part in your "Zero Cardamine" week starting from now on. Wish you all the best.. and I remember flying alongside you, it was always enjoyable and I hope that contrary to the bad things happening, you won't lose your fun around here. Fun makes life worth it afterall.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've not lost anyone to drug addiction but the ever present fear is always there. Having my dad try and get something again to get some of his stress off and thankfully denied...having taken xanax just Tuesday for a root canal, since my edodonics dentist doesn't have nitrous oxide in her office, I understand why people get hooked on xanax. If that's how just 3 tablets feel during a root canal...

I can see how people can fall into that.

I'm so sorry, Kookee. I just wish I had more than words to give you in such a time.

My deepest condolences for your loss. As someone who spends a majority of their time surrounded by an environment which is often used for narcotics consumption at the most dangerous levels, I heavily understand what you're going through and have lost a dozen of my closest friends to addiction and substance abuse.

Currently unable to consistently be present in the Community due to life constraints.
