Chateau d'Or did not carry such a name without a number of good reasons. At the time it was being used by the BAF as their regional HQ on Planet Exeter, but it was originally built as a luxury villa by a wealthy Zoner artefact smuggler. The villa rested in the middle of a vast steppe, far from any settlements, a place both easy to keep secured and very comfortable. It was 6:24 PM Sirius Time, but in Chateau d'Or the clock had just ticked 5 PM.
This was the residence of Commodore Elizabeth Hall, who was appointed as Governor-General of Exeter to pacify the system and the planet. It was surrounded by a few much less imposing, newly knocked together barracks to house the local garrison, as well as their hardware. The villa had an original landing pad, but it was expanded when the BAF appropriated the site. A shuttle had just landed on it.
The governor was standing outside on the porch, waiting for the person that had just arrived at the appointed time. She was not wearing a uniform, but a dress. The design was a green floral pattern, not overly pretentious but ornate enough, polite, and comfortable.
