Ok, here is what I was thinking. I noticed that there are carriers in the game, but they are basically just gunboats or whatever. This bothers me. Another mod, 88 Flak, has the ability for players to dock on player battleships. Now, this is pretty impressive stuff, and is very stable. Now, the carriers in Disco are collecting dust. Players being able to dock with player controlled Carriers would revolutionize Disco combat. It would make large scale battles very easy to do, and more fun. It would give carriers a definite use. I think that this should be looked at closely. Maybe we could ask the 88 flak guys how they did it, and then we could implement it on our carriers. This would also make carrier classes for all the Houses, and it would be a completely fresh way to combat.

Also, 88 Flak has many other awesome ideas, such as asteroids not being fixed in place, so Cap ships can go through and asteroids would just bounce off. Just read the link at the bottom to see what features Disco is missing, and what could be added to it that could make Disco a completely fresh experience.

UPDATE:
my results of testing docking are on page 3.
1) When a cap ship dies with you on it, you respawn at bs's last base
2) If they log out, you respawn at last base

No, it has been said time and again, that, because of relatied issues, like the player you are docked on going offline, this is not possible.

And the server is glitchy already...no need to make it worse.




But i must agree it would be nice tho..

Ah this has been discussed earlier, But no positive feed back came from it.The main problem it has was if carrier is destroyed then ship docked int will also get destroyed,so reswap becomes a problem here.....But I feel if a BS or a carrier docking is not made a reswap point then this can be done.

This would be pretty sweet under ideal conditions, however...

1.Carrier owner deletes Char, where does it leave you?
2.Carrier owner goes to Bastille, where do you go since you become cargo?
3.You want to undock from a ship that isn't online, what are the results?

Honestly, I have no answers. If they can be addressed, SIGN ME UP for the first Airwing division!

yes this is also true it will make server crash also.

I am pretty sure that the 88 flak people have addressed those issues. I will play it and go see. I will come back and post on what happens when I dock with a player and then log out and come back, and try to get the carrier to planet bomb. Also on 88 flak, the docking is done with a command, so I do not know if that affects anything. Here is a quote from the page : Mobile docking - players can dock with player-flown Battleships/Stations by using a /dock command in chat near the targeted player; the player may resupply or even logout in the belly of his/her friend's Battleship/Station.

I hope the research goes well, I'm curious as to how they do it, but don't have the time, the means or the effort to do proper research myself. Needless to say, I'll look forward to your findings

Forgive me if i sound rude or so, but, if you like Flac so much, go and play it..Disco gives peeps a lot of new things to the table, even if its not dockable carriers.

Be glad we have this.

Carriers can in a limited role take on the role of resupplying fighters... with bots/bats/ and certain ammo...

I just wanted to offer some kind of support in response to the landslide of "No way" "Ain't gonna happen" and "Tried and failed" responses. I'm not running off for flac or anything. It's just this is how mods come to be. Draft an idea, and gather feedback. I'm merely intrigued as to how those mechanics can be applied to FL. Doesn't mean I don't respect all the hard work that went to making this mod happen. Personally, I'm VERY glad this mod is here. I still haven't seen nearly a fraction of the dev team's hard work.
