PRIORITY: High
ENCRYPTION: None
IDENTIFICATION: Minister for Foreign Affairs Hans Averbach-Schmitz
SOURCE: Hauptsitz des Auswärtigen Amts, Planet New Berlin
SUBJECT: Illegal occupation of Aland Shipyard

On 27th January 826 A.S. the government of Bretonia issued an ultimatum to the residents of Aland Shipyard. "Give us your shipyard, or face war."

This was in direct violation of the Treaty of Snowdown which recognized the sovereignty of IMG's stations as well as Freeport 1.

Fourteen months later and the Kingdom of Bretonia continues to illegally occupy Aland Shipyard despite past assurances and statements that this seizure was only temporary, until the war with Gallia had been concluded. If this seizure is formally recognized then we believe there is no legal obstacle for the government of Bretonia to consequently occupy Freeport 1 and Rugen Station under the pretext of another emergency. It should also be noted that Bretonia is ruled by an unelected group of people who enjoy no oversight or accountability. The disenfranchised people of Bretonia obviously do not support this aggression.

Following our ministry's meeting with the IMG leadership we would like to issue the following joint statements:
  • The Federal Republic of Rheinland calls on the government of Bretonia to fulfill its treaty obligations and return the illegally occupied station to its rightful owners.

  • The Federal Republic of Rheinland calls on the government of Bretonia to withdraw the Wartime Powers Act which have been in effect for more than a decade and return the powers to its democratically-elected institutions.

From the Ministry for Foreign Affairs,

Hans Averbach-Schmitz
