my laptop is connected to wireless internet... alright.
Everything seems normal, excellent signal, I have internet connection, skype works perfectly...
but my web browser, at interval of 5 minutes or so, would just stop working, as if I wasnt connected to Internet. When I ask my laptop to make a diagnostic, it says no error detected, and suggests me to reboot my wireless adaptator. I do that, and browser work again... for 5 minutes.
what the hell?
and it only concerns my browser; internet, skype, msn, freelancer, all works when the browser doesnt. I tried internet explorer, then firefox, but its the same; always the same problem. whats that?
I had that, and then it stopped working altogether, and then I had to do a full reinstall. I think it was a windows update which messed it up. Have you recently installed a hotfix?
Try restoring the system back a few days, make a restore point again, and don't update it.
I restored it back, which worked, but when it restores successfully it deletes all the restore points, so make an image right after doing so.
After it worked, I turned it off, and turned it back on the next day, and it wasn't working again. Hence why i had to do a reinstall
Try what Coriko said, or install the WinSock patch(google it of course)
Also, it may be how your wireless settings are. Right click on you wireless thingy at the bottom right, then click on status. Afterwards click properties. A new window will pop up. on the very first tab, you will see your wireless card's name, and next to it "configure" Click it
Click on the advanced tab, and hope that it has as many options as mine does. Take a screenshow of it(so i can see all the options) then post it here or pm me with it. While you are at it, check if theres a Preamble Select, and if there is see what the setting is. Have it set to either Auto or long, and if it is already on auto set it to long. I have and this same exact problem before in the pass and was able to fix it via this configuration screen. Although your problem and mine may vary depending on your wireless card
I don't know if this was taken care of or not, but I would suggest, if you are on a router, to reset the router. I've had that problem quite a few times back when I was in Chicago, too much traffic moving in and out of the router (running about 7-8 various PC's and laptops on cable internet for my parent's business), a few months later, the router died, so, may want to invest in a new router:)
Josh.
Edit: Oh, and what kind of router/wireless card? I know some routers HATE other manufactures, like Dlink routers and Linksys cards do NOT get along. so:)
I have the same problem. Its not evry 5 mins, but it seems my router blocks the traffic on port 80 for no reason(or for a reason im not aware of).
It started happening when i tested window7,then it continued happening after i switched to XP.
Under ubuntu evrything is working great,so i quess it mus be some software problem.I also use 2 routers at home, but thats another story.
