Tromelin Observatory was established in 743 AGS in the Brittany system. The stations serve as a research facility designed for observation of distant systems in the Gallic Borderworlds and Lambda cluster.

Owned by the Montluc Advanced Engineering, the Observatory is unique in its kind within Enclave’s space. The Tromelin serves a rather unusual purpose in the time of "Bellum contra omnes" for the Enclave - finding new worlds for colonization. Such a task was entrusted to personnel by the Baron Montluc himself to find a suitable world for the creation of a new state, an idealistic project of an exiled noble tat, however, benefits the Crown and as such approved by the Enclave’s top.

In addition to observing the distant systems and looking for a new, potentially habitable worlds, the station also performs MAE with a perfect place for a field test and studies the effect of jump drives. Furthermore, equipped primarily with sophisticated monitoring hardware, Tromelin’s side purpose is to serve as the eyes and ears of the Enclave in this part of space.

Moreover, a relocated Overlord-class Battleship, already named Frederic Bartholdi, has turned Tromelin into an ad hoc shipyard that is, however, devoid of any specialized facilities for ship construction and mostly houses the engineering staff engaged in the works within the dreadnought itself.
