I was toying with them (epecialy with junker) and I have few propositions:

for me they are nice missiles spam ships desin to kill fighters and bombers

why they have 2 10lvl guns and one 8lvl? Give them 3 10lvl
(then we have: 2 Sidewinder and 1 Paralyzer Missiles)

give them 2 tranports turets as main guns - this will be nice adicion to normal turets.

*opcional* give them 1 torpedo slot (no no super nova canon, but nova torpedo could be nice) this will make them good against GB and transports.

This wil turn them in to something betwen fighter and gb

Freighters are made to haul goods, not fight. The Kushan and Turanic are already very efficient at discouraging attackers, there's absolutely no need to make them more powerful. If you want firepower of that magnitude, get a gunboat.

I had a cap 6 grizly for a while. a CB, two debs, vengeances. It cruntched up a xeno bomber quite fast.

Imho, they are a bit too good.

Edit: as Del said "A mk 8 armoured trans is a poor man's gunboat"

To good?:DMuahahaha, Freighters are as slow as bombers, have lower armor, and don't have nowhere near the same firepower. How can they be to good? But then again perhaps bombers really are to good...

mk2 freighters (some of them) can mount missiles up to class 9....and some even have mine droppers...as far as their defenses go they are actually very good...

The Borderworlds ST freighter is a pretty good freighter with a nice addition of guns. 4 forward firing and 5 aft and you can package a rather nice armor upgrade on it to boot. I like the thought of being able to fight off a potential threat.

Yeah the CSF is already a very decent ship. 2x10 and 1x8 guns forward, and 4x5 turrets forward, 4x5 turrets back (with two turrets doing both) and I'm pretty sure it has CD CM and mine too. That gives it basically more power than anything else that size, and it has the big boy shield, and the cargo capacity to hold cap armour if you are totally insane/too rich. You know, you could give it transport turrets and another level 10 slot, but you know, why not give it battleship turrets and 50 level 10 slots and 80,000 cargo and make it dockable.
