So, a little history snippet: Back in the olden days Hessian shipline was rather different to what it is now. There was no Hessian Battleship, the cruisers were using Star Wars import models and we don't talk about the old gunboat, but the old snubline (by AngelofMercy) had a lot of charm and personality to it and a lot of people were quite fond of its design.

When Hessian BS was introduced and the cruisers got remodeled to ditch the old imports, for the sake of consistency the snubline also got reworked to fit with the new aesthetics of the rest of the line, and since then, a lot of old-timers have been wanting the old snubs back, but due to technical quality of the old models being rather subpar to the more recent expectations, simply copy/pasting the 4.85 files over to the current build would've been a no-go, and so here we are.

These are Not intended as replacements for the existing Hessian snubs.
The current Hessian snubline will be staying as-is, and these remastered ships will instead be added to the "Rheinland Unlawful" line (same techcell as Hel, probably).

Since the old line had quite an iconic look, this remake won't deviate too much from the original design, so it's mostly focused on cleaning up the under-the-hood technical aspect of the mesh and just redoing the bulbous bits that don't really fit well with sharp angles of the silhouette. Textures will be redone completely, but the general arrangement/colorscheme will likely still be kept similar to the original.

P.S: I've picked these up as more of a side-project, which means they wont be the main priority and while the plan is to remaster the full Asgard line (old Loki, Odin and Thor) it won't be done in one go, and will mostly get worked on whenever there's a gap between other ongoing projects.

Yay! I can't say how pleased I am that models get re-built and re-integrated.

Rheinland Black Market ships being sold as outdated technology, this is just hot. I loved those models.

Update:

Unless any feedback results in a change, the mesh on this thing can be considered finished. Textures will have to wait until after Condor is wrapped up.

The rounded dome plating on the top is the only thing throwing me off, other than that it looks perfect. (unrelated note, that BW modular gunboat looks sick)

It might be worth slightly bulking it up compared to the old model, as we have learned over time that the Odin shape's pretty damn good and prevents the ship from getting the juicy stats it had back when this model was around.

On the other hand that might make it too "different" to be considered a remaster? I've always really liked the old Odin's looks. We could also do something wild and just scale the model up to like 1.05x the current size so we can beef up the stats. Might look a bit derpy next to the new Odin though.

..Or just give it the same boring stats as the current Odin, of course. Or cut into its powercore and armor a little so it can have its old turn rate. Who knows. We'll figure it out I guess.

Please just re implement this at the same size as the current odin and leave it so no ones crying.

I would come back in a heartbeat if this happened.

Update:

Refined some bits based on feedbacks:

1. Top plate looking a bit tacked on and not attaching to the rest of the ship properly
2. Bottom profile looking a bit plain since the details were mostly concentrated around side/top profiles
3. The area connecting reactor to main hull looking a bit unresolved

Addressed by refining the belly a bit and adding some more details to it and the top plate now merges into the back half of the body to form a larger "shell" covering the sides as well (will be more apparent once textured), which gives better definition to the reactor->hull connection as well.
