In the last months, the Board has been reviewing the general costs that the Genesis has, and has always been constantly trying to reduce it without affecting the quality of the work put into the said service.
One of the more looked sector, was ship manufacturing. The Genesis is based on engineering, and the Board tries to reduce the expenses on the ship manufacturing, especially on industrial use, like mining operations.
The Genesis' has been using the automated drones, that were composed by two pieces, the miners and the transporters. The vessels' type would changed based on the necessities, but manufacturing time would be slightly slower as would be required the building of more vessels.
In this regard, in order to speed up the manufacturing time and aswell reduce expenses, the Board has decided to combine mining and transporting, all in one vessel.
The vessel chosen by the Board is the CTE-F-1050-A "Kestrel".
This vessel, developed to be used in any possible condition, seems like the perfect addition to complete the job the Board requires, as its design gives the opportunity to apply easy modifications in order to make it compatible with the job required. In Genesis' case, would be mining.
The same applies for the other vessels from the same CTE line, CTE-6000 "Eagle" or the CTE-4000 "Griffin".
The Kestrel is a very interesting ship in its own right, as it is a very simple but efficiently built vessel.
In order to make the vessel efficient for extracting operations, the vessel would receive an extra isolation of the Dark Matter Defensive Platings, developed by Genesis on Ames. Said plating would be in order to be able to resist the high radiations in certain systems, or even certain areas and to be able to complete its job even in very hard conditions.
Then, obviously, there will be room for the server room, in case the vessel will be left automated, but only on the requested vessels. GRG's engineers will be building the vessel, by default, to host pilots, at least for the first times, as there will be following down some tests in order to test it.
The Kestrel can mount seven total weapons.
It would mount two ZT43-5 "Fury 5", as front weaponry, to have a minimum to defend itself from small threats or use those to break small asteroids for extraction, while the last five weapon ports, would be filled with CMT-22l "Crusher", used to extract the minerals from the fields, in a very fast and efficient way.
Then it would be mounting a M56-D "Shredder" Mine Dropper, which is very useful in case pirates try to go follow the vessel filled with cargo; the CD95XT Train Cruise Disruptor Missile Launcher mounted would be necessary in case the vessel needs to give assistance to its escorts, to stop the enemy vessel from escaping, and last, the TCM-1a "Fortress" Countermeasure Dropper, which is needed in the case the vessel needs to escape an overwhelming force.
As it's part of the CTE shipline, the Board has decided to assign as default escorts, two CTE-6000 "Eagle" Very Heavy Fighter, and as one scout, a CTE-4000 "Griffin" Light Fighter.
Very simple ships, easy to be modified and to arm them as pleased, the Board has chosen said vessel as the expenses are reduced, aswell as the time of construction, compared to a, for example, a Series Z "Sabre" Very Heavy Fighter.
But the escorts will be armed like the situation requires before leaving, based on the area of extraction, etcetera.
The Board will be starting the production and the testing effective immediately, as there is a necessity to have those changes applied as soon as possible.
