Now then, who here has CoD 4, raise your hands.
Now, who has attempted the Veteran campaign, keep them up.
Now, who had done it without screaming?
I thought so.
Seriously, what is the deal with the Veteran campaign? I know its meant to be hard but its ridiculous. Three hits of anything without an explosive attached kills you, and they come at you thick and fast. The enemy seems to have aim hack turned on or something.
Not only that, there is a seemingly infinite number of them! I played the Bog level earlier, and the amount of time to just get past one building almost took half a fricking hour of dropping enemy after enemy. I know they're not infinite, but it bloody seems like it, the only way to speed it up is to 'secure' a building your-bloody-self. Your lucky if a stun grenade even works. They put all their bullets into your head faster you can pull the L trigger. You need A LOT of grenades.
Now, your teammates. They are only good as meat shields and ammo. That's it. They don't help breach, they don't aim, they die fast and yell at you for jack all. I mean if the friendly AI was a bit better, I could keep the pace up better.
And finally, in the 'Hunted' level, when your shot down as the SAS, then get to the area to pick up the Stinger launcher? You know, just before that you had to clear an area with the Helicopter's gunner pumping you full of unstoppable lead?
Yeah, that level took me an hour just to get past THAT section, that helicopter gunner is the Terminator. There is no way on Earth a gunner 200m away, can aim a high caliber gun at that accuracy, and he ALWAYS aims for me! I decided to make an example of him, I shot him out, repeatedly. That thing is a flying AI bot queen womb or something because there is infinite gunners waiting in that thing. They always come at you and rip you up... that level caused a lot of anger...
Now then, I'm at the level where you fly in as the helicopter gunner, that uber grenade launcher kicks ass. Now I must save a squad.
I did all that today... such a wasted day, but now I realize why each level is worth 40G...
I haven't played Call of Duty 4 in almost a year now, which sucks, since it is one of my favourite games. I was ridiculously good at it also, on multiplayer.
As for veteran - yeah it's hard. But what you're describing is god damn nothing compared to the aeroplane mission at the end. That is completely nuts. If you reload one second too early or too late, you die.
Basically yeah, your team mates do nothing on veteran. You have to shoot everyone, and everyone shoots at you. It's all about positioning basically. Just keep at it.
Anyway, multiplayer is way more fun. I was disgustingly good at it.

The mile high club is freaking hard before I've tried it on Veteran... I have almost learned each level down to the inch thanks to me scrambling for cover and constantly respawning...
No, Mr. Grenade is not your friend when the pin is pulled...
*Raises Hand*
*Hand Still Up*
*Sheepishly Lowers Hand*
Seriously?! Ya move to one area, 8 grenades land on you, you run like hell, and repeat! My throwback finger was sore as hell after 15 minutes. Never again. CoD4, you have your victory over me. Hardened was annoying enough...
Veteran is easy but just takes some time to get used to each campaign/level.
The War Room level or w/e its called is the most annoying on Veteran:P

I did it on the xbox. my PC is awful, and my housemate had an xbox so I just used that. But single player sucks massively compared to multiplayer guys. I was a god there.
Meh, FPS have to be played on a pc, the mouse still has the upper hand over a controller when it comes to aiming, it makes multiplayer games much more intense as well
I didn't even attempt it on veteran... hardened was enough for me... *shudders* Many broken controllers thrown at the wall would have been the result of me trying it on veteran...
I've got it on PS3, and the multiplayer is far superior to the singleplayer. I've just gone back to it afetr COD:WaW, and I realise its one of the best multplayer FPS's ever.

You're right about the mouse, it definitely has superiority over the Dualshock, but strangely, all my recent FPS's have been on the PS3. Also, you can get a USB mouse, apparantly. Might have to check that out.
