☆ Subject: Can They Be Trusted?

My fellow wanderers,

I was pondering some deeper meanings of the Principia Discordia while literally and metaphorically digesting the words of the holy-ish book. It seems powers of 10 actually mean something when procuring rations for pilgrims (whoops!). On the plus side, the Widdershins is now rat free for the first time in ages (well, except for her passengers and captain of course). I discovered two things: First, that while paper is edible, binders generally aren't.

But secondly, and more disturbingly, I considered the current force deployment of the Liberty Navy. We have all found the 5th fleet's designation numerically pleasing and in keeping with the law of fives, but after seeing some of the 46th on scanners, my blood (or whatever is currently in my veins, I was leaking purple the other day) ran cold. Four and six are adjacent to five, so close to perfection yet so far. Could this be the navy taunting our enlightened popes? Or are they perhaps inviting the gaze of the goddess, to their own detriment?

I dove down the numerological rabbit hole (the rabbits having met a similar fate as the rats were no longer using it) to determine more. I now present the pro's and cons's of Liberty's 46th:

PRO: 4+6 = 10, which is twice 5 and therefore could be considered TWICE as auspicious. If this was the desire, why not go with 55 and get an ontological triple letter score?!(?)

CON: The magic number for LIBERTY is 37 (3+9+2+5+9+2+7). Adding this to the number of BAFFIN (2+1+6+6+9+5=29) yields 66, which I don't have to tell YOU is not a very auspicious result. After all, 6+6 = 12 and 1+2 = 3, ALL of which are disheartengly far from 5. The clear connection is that the Navy should have nothing to do with Baffin, and those who reside within it's blessed chao. 66 is also associated with the biblical satan (maybe a good thing? We're certainly not working for the other guy) and long roads, so perhaps a journey of some kind is in order.

PRO: I found a pack of skittles in a forgotten corner of the glovebox. I shall feast like a king tonight! Also, my ship has a glovebox!

CON: KALLISTI (2+1+3+3+9+1+2+9 = 30 -> 3+0 = 3) is a very auspicious word. Our traditional greeting, a reminder of the doctrine of the original snub and a reassurance that sometimes even the cool kids don't get invited to parties. 30-3 = 27, 30/3 = 10 = 5*2, none of which play nice with the numbers of the 46th without some serious juggling. While yes, 30/(3+0) = (4+6), there's a LOT of order of operations in there and I'm having trouble recalling if I need to excuse my dear aunt sally or if my very educated mother is serving nine pizzas. Either way, the mitochondria IS the powerhouse of the cell, so we have that going for us.

PRO: ERIS (5+9+9+1) has a magic number of 24 which (2+4=6) compounds down to 6. This is fitting as the goddess of discord and chaos would see no reason to bind herself to her own rules (I would have been more concerned if she did let herself be bound by the rule of 5's). After all, every rule has its exceptions, and the goddess is nothing if not exceptional. However, it should be noted that 4*6=24, so perhaps 46 is just another name for the goddess herself?

CON: I have no gloves to put in the glovebox, and it's having an existential crisis. I've taken to keeping my hands inside it unless otherwise occupied under the theory that the skin on my hands are really nothing more than very tight fitting gloves. Perhaps if I skin my own hands, I could place the flesh inside to appease the glovebox. I'm switching to dictation mode while I keep one hand in the box and look around for a knife.

PRO: It is well known that every golden apple corps has its golden worm. GOLDEN (7+6+3+4+5+5 = 30) and WORM (5+6+9+4 = 24) combine to make 54 and 5+4 = 9. This is doubly reinforced because (3+0) + (2+4) = 9 as well, so GOLDEN WORM s have a cosmic vibration centered on the 9 frequency. The fleet first came about officially on 11 May at 2 AM, giving a magic number of 11 + 5 + 2 = 18 -> 1+8 = 9 as well. Perhaps these cabbages are actually our golden worms?

CON: What separates a given POPE (7+6+7+5 = 25) and a given NAVY PILOT (5+1+4+7+7+9+3+6+2 = 44)? The difference between the two is 44-25 = 19, which means OH MY GODDESS, THERE'S PURPLE EVERYWHERE! GODDESS GODDESS GODDESS! THE GLOVEBOX WILL HAVE TO WAIT! OH HODGE, OH PODGE! SIGN THE THING AND SEND IT! OH ERIS, I'VE SUNK IT NOW!

Sincerely,
Jonathan (Titles???)

Well, you might be up on something here,
And maybe your not.
Some things are meant to be a mystery.
