So, how are my two FAVORITE people the sector doing today? Good? Great? Hopefully great because this is going to knock you down a few pegs.
First, the good news: extradition laws are incredibly complicated for the Taus! If I know Orbital's legal department (and I like to think I do) I think commandeering a liner, falsifying an emergency broadcast, and killing an endangered species still keeps me on the favorable side of "not worth the company's time to deal with." To be fair, Cambridge still has 15 breeding pairs of the geese to work with.
Now, the bad news: I might have misplaced Scotty. Not lost, per se, but definitely not immediately locatable. Given the grand scheme of space and time, I think it's actually quite the accomplishment that we know what system he's currently in (probably) and how much time we have to find him (probably). We were making our exit from Orlando and may have (did) accidentally (negligently) activated an escape pod. With Scotty in it. Fortunately, those pods are equipped with enough air scrubbers, supplies, and media to keep him alive and occupied for 30 days!
The really bad news is that most of the included media are shows that only lasted two seasons, and they didn't get renewed for a reason.
The really, really bad news is that said life pod was custom modified for something called "ultimate hide and seek." Meaning while half of its function is completely intact (i.e. keeping a person alive until rescue), Orbital seems to have done everything in its quite considerable power to undo the other half (i.e. draw rescue crews to said pod before you run out of episodes to binge). The thing has no transponders and no lights, but it does have thermal and EM shielding (I found a binder with the specs, its in Orbital's system somewhere. You should vary up the fonts a little). The only reliable way to see this thing is with the mark one eyeball.
The juuuuuuust right bit of news in this Goldilocks clustermess is that we know the pod is in Cortez... somewhere. Seems Orbital in its quest to keep things interesting jammed an intrasystem jump drive in the pod. So we know it's not where Orlando was found and we know its not outside the system. That just leaves... a massive amount of icefield to manually sort through to find a lifepod doing everything in its power to not be found.
But, seeing as Oribital and the Starfliers are both well like organization, surely y'all can rally some friends to help, right? Bretonia, Liberty, Crayter, MFE, Union Corse, Zoners, Freelancers, Exotic Dancers, whatever, all of it and any of it! Put enough eyeballs in the field, and SOMEBODY's gonna jam their eye on the needle in the haystack! Hopefully before Scotty runs out of serials.
And air. I only met him once but he seems like the type who enjoys breathing.

First and Foremost is the Amount of Entertainment in Scottys Pod really the only dam Concern you have? Cortez is big and some parts of the system arent that Nice when you are Stranded there. I Trusted you to Give Scotty a Tour through the Ship as you are one of the Best Enterprise Capitan I know. But you have decided to "Borrow" the ship for a Joyride or whatever, and on top of that, you Killed a Rare Gaian Animal if I have to Understand that Right.

I Promised Leon that Scotty would be safe with you but it looks like I was wrong. Now we have to Sort out this Mess and do what we can to Find Scotty. also I want to know who had the "Brilliant" Idea to Equip an Escape pod like that, this is the Most Stupid Configuration for an Escape Pod I have ever heard about.

Ok, those are all things that can wait for some time later. Now we have to Organise a Search and Rescue Operation and find Scotty, we need to Contact anyone that is willing to help us. we need as Many Ships out there as Possible that Search for this pod. For you Jonathan I Expect you back on Curacao as soon as Possible with a Location where you have Lost Scotty so we can Reduce the Search area if Possible. I am not Angry at you Jonathan, but I am Disappointed, I Consider you as one of my Family and you don't let your family down when they make Mistakes. But what you do from now on and If we will find Scotty in Time will Determine our Future Relationship.

I am livid.
I sent Scotty out to examine one of your vessels with you, Seabourne. Examine and and research. To come back with some plans Not to get jettisoned into space inside the safety of some kind of invisible escape pod. Honestly, at this point, I don't even care where you are, I want Scotty back. I missed our banter on board the NX-01 and I'll work with Orbital's board of directors and the police to get him back. Us Starfliers are going after our friend, and I'm sure as hell thinking a handful of Orbital's vessels are going after you.
Cait, I'm two systems out from Cortez. Heading to Englund Space Port to plan the rescue. I shall meet you there.

Ok, there's a lot to unpack here. I'm sensing a lot of hostility, which is good but less than productive. If the goal is retrieval rather than retribution, let's keep our eyes on the future! Which in Scotty's case is currently being measured in days.
First, the goose. If it's any consolation, Cait, it died a horrible painful death after hours of terrified anger and debilitating tortuous injury.
Second, the ship. If anything knows where Scotty ended up, it's Orlando. I have a feeling that the jump drive's computer is in cabin 308. Scotty did say that such drives usually have a secondary feature to do a random jump, but you shouldn't exclude the possibility that the pod was deliberately sent somewhere in Cortez.
Third, the trust. Well, that seems to have been a mistake all around. I wouldn't trust me and I know me. Maybe especially because I know me. Perhaps the peaches have it in the right after all, curse their insolent syrup!
Fourth, the welder. Scotty left his sonic welder on Curacao. I picked it up while do-si-do-ing my ships. I've promoted it temporarily to chief engineer of Widdershins and look forward to returning it once you've found its owner, preferably humously rather than the post- variety.
Fifth, the damning. Yeah, well, get in line.
Sixth, the location. I'm not a monster, I'm sending you everything I have on the incident arranged in a convenient narrative format. Bit of a riveting read, if I say so myself. I hope it has a happy ending.
Seventh, on reporting to Curacao. You know, I hear the Provence system is lovely this time of year.
Eighth, on "borrowing" the Orlando. I actually returned the ship... sort of! That puts it WAY ahead of most of the things I've borrowed over the years. I believe a "thank you" is in order.
Ninth, on luck. I wish you good hunting. I'll try to stir up some chaos away from Cortez to draw off the goddess's attention.

Measured in days... well, an escape pod won't hold much. So I should probably calm down a bit and sort out our rescue plan. Don't mistake this for me forgiving you, I'm still pissed. According to the story you have provided, Scotty willingly helped you evacuate the liner and took off into the Cortez Ice Fields? What the hell... I have questions for that man. This communication signal has been tuned for view-only access for Liberty Police, as I have sent a missing persons report to them. More eyes the better if this escape pod is indeed configured the way you say it is.

First, I don't care about the "Beeeeep" Goose, that thing is the least of our problems right now. as for my Trust in you, I just hoped that you are still the same Man that had Married Steph and me on this Beach on Curacao. I thought that there was enough of that Man left in you.
Now we have to Sort out this mess you created. If you hadn't caused such Chaos it would be funny that our Roles are now Reversed as I was originally the one that caused problems that you had to serve as you were the Chairman.
We will have to Organize a Search Party and make sure that we have Everything Prepared if we find Scotty in a bad Medical State. But you are right that it would be best if you lay low in the Borderworlds for a while. About your Acces, to Orbitals Property and Accounts I have to Inform you that the Board has Voted to Remove all Administrative Acces codes from you. you are Still Welcome at Curacao as my Friend but you are no longer a part of the OS&C Leadership or Advisory Board.
Now for the Search of Scotty, if you want to help then I would ask you to Spread the Word that we Search Freelancers and Bounty Hunters for the Search. And I advise you to do this Discrete Jonathan, the last we want is the Colony News Service to Peek into our Business and make some Bad Press.
