Subject: [PRIORITY] Rheinic Hostilities

Report:

Receiving distress calls from Navy elements in the Hudson system, the Paramount was dispatched from Houston orbit to investigate and assist if required. What we came across was a Navy task force consisting of the dreadnought LNS Hawaii, cruiser LNS Allen M. Sumner, and a 5th Fleet fighter being engaged by a battleship of the Rheinland Military, the RNC Njord, and her bomber escort.

I gave the order to engage the Rheinic forces. However, we were unable to keep the Hawaii and her escort from taking critical damage. At this point, the Rheinlanders requested a cease-fire, claiming that they had fired upon our forces in retaliation for violations of standing treaties between Liberty and Rheinland. I was unable to press for further information, as a pirate cruiser engaged us and was promptly disabled.

I requested a full report of the incident from the Rheinlanders, but they seem less than forthcoming. I doubt they will oblige. From what I could tell, this detachment of the Rheinland Military committed an overt act of war against the Republic of Liberty. I advise sending inquiries immediately both to the 5th Fleet and the Rheinland government.
