"Corvo" Deep Space Explorer

Modus Operandi

The Research, Development, and Innovation Division, or RDI, acts strictly in a support role to the Main Fleet. RDI primarily liaises and works alongside assigned civilian scientists, generally at designated research installations or even at established Naval Stations. The Division is primarily assigned or deployed to research hazardous environments, investigate anomalies within Liberty, and keep the Fleet updated with cutting-edge technologies. Division deployments are generally supported by various assets from the Main Fleet, serving primarily as escorts.

Operational Capabilities

At present, and since the Division was stood up in 827 A.S, assigned personnel and assets are fairly minimal. In efforts to reduce budgetary impacts to the rest of the Fleet, the RDI division currently only operates a single "Corvo" Deep Space Explorer. Civilian personnel, either scientists or engineers, are usually assigned when conducting any operation that includes the deployment of the Division. The primary deployed craft for Division deployments is the "Corvo" Deep Space Explorer, which makes use of the following equipment:

Naming Convention

The naming convention for RDI-designated craft is as follows:

46th|RDI-<Ship Name>
- Designated to authorized research vessels

46th|RDI-RV-Raleigh
- Designated to a "Corvo" Deep Space Explorer
- Only one in active service

Recruitment Process

The standard recruitment process is to be undertaken by external personnel, be it a lateral transfer from the Secondary Fleet or a civilian looking to join the Liberty Navy. For current active duty Officers of the Fourty-sixth Fleet, you need only advise your chain of command of your interest.
