I just want to delete my account so it stops appearing in search engines when typing certain words.

I no longer play here, I no longer log, I no longer participate on the forums. I don't even have the base game installed. I am not a part of this community anymore so there is no reason for my account to still pop up in search results when I am searching for something unrelated to this community.

On any competent website this is a simple process done in a few clicks but here I noticed there is no way for me to delete my account by myself so I asked about how that works in the Discord chat to which Mephistoles told me they don't generally delete accounts.

I PM'ed St.Denis and asked him politely for help with this which resulted in a back and forth array of PM's where I had to justify myself just for him in the end to tell me he won't delete my account with the stated reason being he has no idea what that would do to my posts...like why does that even matter?

Since I am not currently banned or otherwise sanctioned, there is no fear of me trying to circumvent something which would be a legit reason for them to be reluctant to delete my account, but since this isn't the case, I do not see where this stubbornness come from.

To what purpose is the staff so adamant about retaining an inactive account? Instead of answering that, St.Denis said he forwarded my request to Alex who is in charge of managing accounts.

Now, I get it that people have more important stuff to do in their lives but it's been almost a full day now and I haven't received even so much as a confirmation that Alex got the message. Not even a "I'm busy, ttyl" or anything so you see, I tried going through the official channels, I've asked nicely, and stayed polite and patient the entire time.

I don't have a contract with you, you're not paying my bills, you're not a social security agency. I shouldn't have to wait for your functionaries to get off their ass and process a passport at a border crossing. You're a gaming forum, I can make things as nasty as I want and there is nothing you can do about it except banning the account I wished to be deleted in the first place.

I tried solving this in a civilized manner, I asked nicely, but if you insist on this senseless stubbornness of retaining my account, then maybe you just like people acting aggressively? Perhaps you prefer to be spat on? Is that your kink?

Is this what I have to resort to? Has it became taboo to ask for a harmless thing in a polite way and for the other person to just do it? Do I have to be actively hostile to solicit an action?

This trend of everyone always being like "no" to everything for no fucking reason is why people are getting erratic.

What was the big fucking deal had you just deleted my account the first time I asked? Do you want to retain an inactive account on this ancient ruin of a forum to artificially keep the numbers up? Is that the reason? Are you on the verge of committing group suicide if you see the numbers drop even lower?

Do you rely on artificially boosted numbers to feel a sense of purpose? Even the Russian dude who made the forum moved on to better things in his life so why are you still here running the place?

The only explanation I can arrive at, since nobody cared to give me an explanation from their side, is that whoever is in charge of this place is mentally ill, probably a lonely incel whose parents gave up on him, a socially handicapped outcast who nobody wants to have around them and so he spends his life staring at this digital sack of compost that is the Discovery Freelancer forum just to feel as if they belong -somewhere- and sees the forum members count as a clock ticking down to the moment of their suicide so they try to hold on to that counter for as much as they can.

If that's the case, you need help and you won't find it here.

Try shaving off that beard, put some lotion on your face to hide the skin lesions you got from staring at a screen for almost two whole decades and go straight to the nearest medical facility in your area.

This forum is a decomposing corpse.

Always the five few individuals and their alts jerking off in the RP channels
Always the same dramaqueens throwing tantrums in General and the Flood looks like a safe space for severely limited people to project their mental impairment in text.

What fucking gaming community is this? It's a decaying corpse and artificially retaining member count on forums by not letting people delete their accounts is not going to add players to your server nor is it going to add activity on the forum unless one of you autists will take control of like 50 separate accounts and dedicate the remainder of your life spamming those as if it's a real 40h week job.

Wouldn´t simply renaming your forum account solve the problem (at least temporarily until the issue of deleting the account is solved)?

I can understand staff would be hesitating to completely delete your account if it would mean all your posts would be deleted as well, because that could for example damage RP threads in which you took part.

Lets be fair here. You sent me a pm mid afternoon and I replied just over an hour later, once I noticed your pm.

After a couple of pms, where I tried offering you different options (ones that I could do), you were still adamant that you wanted your Account deleted.

The final pm I sent you (90 minutes after your original) was:
Quote:I have thrown it to Alex:
As he has the control over Accounts.
Admins don't have the keys to those capabilities and he will most likely be able to sort you out on this regards.

Now, I have no idea what Alex is doing in rl and his availability.

I would feel that the 18 hours, since you contacted me, is quite a short time to expect any actions on your Request.

We aren't a Company that have set office hours in which we do our 'work' or one that has 24 hour cover.

I am sure he will get around to you, once he notices my message to him.

You remind me of impatient customers at my company, who get agitated, irritated, and then get totally ballistic and lucid over simple things/issues, and when they don't get their attention in the first five hours. You and them have a similar thing going on - you think you're entitled to special treatment, while in reality - no one gives a crap about your feelings, I believe Denis has much more important things to attend to other than deal with your bs.

Have patience, otherwise, people won't bother.

On hiatus for unspecified amount of time

We'll be liberated one day, pray for the deliverer's return! He will lead the RP slaves out of bondage, across the flood thread, to the promised land! His return will be marked by the sudden appearance of a star or comet!

Denis, your mid-afternoon may be somebody else's morning, or night.

Timezones are an issue, yes, and these types of actions are not necessarily a priority, you feel 18 hours is too short a time frame for an action to be taken, but after (now) 19 hours, I feel it's plenty of time for a simple confirmation that action would be taken, whenever that might happen.

Talking about fairness, if users had the choice to delete their own profiles, none of these discussions would've taken place now, would they? Perhaps something worth considering in the future? Although I find it interesting that since 2004 nobody thought of that.

ONIKS, if so many of your customers are agitated, irritated, and then get totally ballistic and lucid over simple things/issues, and your company doesn't provide an expected time frame for delivering service, then maybe your company is just crap.

It is not always about the company, sometimes it is about the client. And a stereotypical client who overreacts over small things on the internet is called "Karen" (regardless of gender). I hope you do not want to join their ranks.

Before demanding from the team something within a framework of 19 hours, think that Discovery Freelancer is not their job. Many of them have lives, families, daily routines to take care of before even making themselves acquainted with what you are asking. I am not even sure if what you are asking is technically feasible in a basically forums managed by your peer players, not by a professional team of moderators with appropriate software and tools to take care of such requests, and or salary to oblige them to take actions rapidly.

I cannot really imagine how you would pop up in Google searches unless you search the name of a character or something related to disco. In any of the cases, I doubt the ANS or FBI or any respectable organisation, really, would bother googling those up because they have the tools to access your PC directly if they really need to. If you do really care about removing your digital footprint, which is absolutely within your rights, I suggest you rename your account and start to remove all your posts manually.

I already renamed 3 times. Account still pops up in search engines, that's how I know renaming won't help.

Damaging the RP threads in which I took part is an absolute BS of a non-excuse because I can just edit/delete their content myself.

Sensible advice, I'll go ahead and do that right now.
