and excuse me, as it is it seems to be an expensive useless ship.
It has only 2 guns firing forwards and 2 turrets only firing backwards,
comparing this with other heavy bombers like the Barghest this baby
is not what it should be.
Seeing its price it should also have 3 torp/cd slots,
both turrets also firing back- and forwards and a
little bit more cargo space that it can mount capital
armor 3 which takes 170 units of cargo, but thats minor.
' Wrote:From what I understand, the balance team made it into the sol super bomber capable of firing twin SNAC at a same time.
Apparently, it's a superb support craft, but alone, it's, yeah, very much useless.
Twin SNAC doesn't work,
the SNAC's power -consumption is by stats 38k per shot, the Fafnir has a total power
of 65K - so to fire 2 SNAC's the same time it would need for minimum 11K more power
and to be playable at least 15K more power then it has atm.
And even if it really had the power to fire a Twin-SNAC it still would require a 3rd slot
for cd's like the Barghest.
If the Fafnir was like that I could life with just 2 guns back and forward.
well you can fire one SN then another SN just after, it has a Transport shield etc. No it isnt useless. It does not fire 2 SN's at the same time, but it can fire one after another much faster than other bombers can.
' Wrote:well then I have no idea.
The twin snac thing wasn't even my idea anyhow.
I just wanted to make a better looking rheinland bomber originally...
or maybe is it that you can equip two and fire them in faster succesion? I really cant remember...
*I just answer in this thread now instead of both*
I didn't know that you designed that ship, congrats for that, I really like its looks.
But the issue that it's not possible to use Twin-Snac and the missing 3rd slot for a
cruisedisruptor are still there.
Maybe it was worth a thought to give it a slight change untill 4.85 goes final.
Till then I'll just leave it in my "carport" hoping to see it fixed.
And yes, seeing its recharge rate it might be possible to fire a SNAC in somewhat
less time then other bombers can, but then still the just 2 guns back or forward thing
sucks a bit - if it could fire 2 SNAC's same time ....
but I think I already stated that, didn't I?
we decided that twin SN are overpowered and would never be balanced - so it has a greater powercore AND a greater regeneration, which greatly improves its anti-capital ship capabilities.
it is intended to have only two guns - and two rearwards turrets, - cause we don t want such a ship to go against fighters. - it is a bomber, it needs escorts ( sounds familiar - doesn t it? )
this bomber shines when it is part of a group that is specialized at taking down a warship - and it utterly sucks when you re a loner flying around thinking you can solo stuff.
that makes it a team ship 100%. - sure, it can go against certain ships all on its own, but i daresay, - a normal rheinland bomber has a greater survivability.
but when you have a few friends - or a full wing even of maybe two VHF and two bombers and you re facing a cruiser or a battleship, you surely want one of the bombers to be a fafnir.
' Wrote:It's better against BCs and Battleships, simply due to the fact that the powerplant recharges much faster.
Against GBs and Cruisers it's mostly worse than normal RH bomber... unless you use those two in a group.
oooh and fighters kill it easily.
Hm,
when I think of what you and Jinx said it starts to make some sense, but I still would like to
see at least the turrets to fire 360 - then it could defend itself against npc's, but with just 2
very hard to do.
Prolly I should get myself a Barghest do stop Blockaderunners, put 2 Novas and a CD on it
and make em "give in orders from police" that way:)
And of course I would've it as an indy pirate, not on my police char.
Maybe this idea is even more fun and convincing then just shouting "halt!" being ignored.
2. Move the turrets so there is a logical reason as to why they can't shoot backwards, because right now its just silly. There is nothing that should be stopping the turrets from turning 360.
