First refugee transport to reach Erie

PENNSYLVANIA Today, the independent passenger transport craft SV Starfarer has made its first run out of besieged Navy rebel territory. The ship carried around 600 civilians. These families used to work one one of the installations maintained by the 'Insurgency'. As the people aren't legally classed as refugees or Liberty citizens, the transports trip was deemed illegal and the Navy tried their hardest to stop the craft. Yet a brave group of rebel Navy craft and Xenos managed to push through and escort the craft to Planet Erie unharmed. Together with the MFE support craft MFE Aesculapius, the refugees are now well cared for. On the independent colony, they can live free from Liberty persecution. It is unclear if Liberty will eventually allow civilians to leave the systems of Kansas and Vespucci. One of the main supporters of the convoy was the Liberty Free Republic. We've managed to contact one of their spokespeople, Mister Damien Morreti for comment. Independent Pennsylvania News: "Mister Morreti, is it true that the Liberty Navy opened fire on a ship full of refugees?" Damien Morreti: "It is true, because they didn't see it as being an evacuation. As far as Liberty's concerned, all those people were accessories to treason, subject to whatever prosecution the judicial system of Manhattan pretends is justified." IPN: "We've not heard of the Liberty Free Republic actively participating in combat or assisting supply craft before, should our readers expect more of that and will you keep further refugees safe?" Morreti: "Historically the LFR's not had the means to reach out much. But there's always been this sentiment of looking out for people wanting to just be left alone, to live by their own means free of the Houses and their overbearing methods. Besides, I gave somebody my word. So you can expect to see us toughing this out till it's conclusion." IPN: "Thank you, now for our last question. Our reporters spotted you, the LFR, together with the so called Insurgency forces. Is the LFR endorsing the actions of the Insurgency then?" Morreti: "The LFR considers the Insurgency an affront to any kind of free society. Our support rests with the people escaping it, not their forces." IPN: "Thanks a lot Mister Morreti, I'm certain our readers will appreciate the information. We've tried to reach out to the Insurgency as well but their craft retreated back to Kansas immediately after this bold action. We've heard further reports of evacuation efforts and charity and relief organisations are organising on Pennsylvania.
